Burn Out and Other Insidious Things that Happen When You Work Too Hard

God I hate burnout. And lately I find myself suffering from it more and more. I doubt anything saps your productivity faster than burnout. The drag is you don’t even realize you’re burnt out until it’s too late.

Now I might be able to pinpoint the culprit if I looked really hard. Okay I wouldn’t have to look too hard to figure out it may be from the five books I’ve written in the past four and a half months. The weird thing is burnout struck as I’m finishing up the fifth one. Why couldn’t it have waited until I was finished?Damn!

Like anyone else I plan on pushing through the burnout until I complete this project. (I’m so close I can taste it.)And then take a few weeks off. Actually as long as my body says it needs to recover and then I’m sure I’ll get right back at it.

I didn’t say I actually learned anything from this malady, only that I hate it. ;-)

  1. Hey Jordan,

You know you’ll make it through…maybe with a few less strands of hair. But when its done its gonna be great..as usual. :) Then you can take your breather and just sit back and enjoy the sun for a few days. If you got through the last book okay…and I know how much that one made you want to scream…you’ll do okay on this one.
hey you can always bounce it off of us and we will give you some extra energy. :) Good luck Jordan.

  2. Hey Ladyrogue, I may take you up on that. I’ve got three scenes left to write and just finished editing two books. I could use a little extra energy coming my way right about now. Thanks for the encouragement. ;-)
