Wow! Today I just received some great news. The Romance Writer’s of America has officially recognized Ellora’s Cave as a publisher. I’m so excited.

I’m going to be stepping out for a while to get some work done. I hope everyone has a good week and I’ll see you all soon.
How many times have you found yourself in the mood to go out and you’re so excited that you actually get ready only to find you have nowhere to go? This recently happened to me.
I had that ‘go out’ itch. (This does not happen to me often so I capitalized on the feeling.) I got dressed up, put on make-up, only to realize I had nowhere to go. Before I knew what hit me, my spirit had plummeted to my knees and the mood was gone.
I decided the next time this feeling comes over me I’m going to head out the door, even if it’s just to the local Walmart. Carpe Diem!
Well once again the book I’m working on has decided to veer from the direction I set out for it to go in. Needless to say, this has caused major problemos for this author. The good thing is last night I think I may have come up with a solution. You have no idea how happy that makes me, considering I’ve been hoping to avoid a major rewrite. It’s going to take some work to get my new idea added to the story, but once I do I think my problems are solved. Yeah!
Well my vampire regency is finally on the final leg of its journey. I’ve taken care of the edits my editor asked for and now I’m doing a final read through. Once that’s finished it will hopefully be off to the proofers. Yeah!
For those of you who don’t know, it was the most difficult book I’ve written so far. I’m not sure if it’s due to the historical information in it or because it combines two different genres, paranormal and historical. Whatever the reason, I honesty never thought I’d reach the end of the book. I will definitely be celebrating once I’ve turned it in.
Have you ever been on a list and asked a question that you truly needed the answer to only to have a response which went on and on without answering? I recently had this occur and I found it to be the strangest thing. Why would someone waste their time writing several paragraphs for nothing?
I’d like to think they were trying to be helpful in their own way, but the pessimist in me wonders if they just like the sound of their own voice.
Lately in many of the groups I belong to there has been an enormous amount of talk concerning fetishes and bondage. It has ran the gambit from the people who are heavily into to the latter and those just curious. I actually find it fascinating. I’ve never had a fetish. I mean, I like shoes, but in no way do they do anything for me sexually. I think it’s more of a spiritual thing for me.LOL!
I went to Amsterdam a couple of years ago and was floored by the open acceptance of fetishes and alternative lifestyles. After a week there nothing, and I mean NOTHING fazes you. Between the legal prostitution, which I agree with, and the various cinemas and live shows nothing is out of bounds. The strange thing is they have one of the lowest, if not the lowest teenage pregnancy and sexual assault rates. Makes you wonder if things weren’t so taboo here if our crime and pregnancy rates would go down..?
A dear friend of mine has recently found herself the center of unwanted attention. This attention has gone from bad to worse in levels of behavior. We spoke at length over lunch, covering every base, including giving off the wrong vibes. Which got me to thinking, where is the line drawn between giving off the wrong vibes and people not bothering to read body language?
The longer our discussion went on the more I was convinced she wasn’t giving off the wrong vibes, the men were choosing to ignore the vibes she was giving off. I think this is more common than we think.
I thought back on my dating days. I know there were times when I could have chilled a room with certain expressions I gave to men who would not take a hint. These men paid little to no attention to the fact that I was shifting nervously, looking for an opportunity to escape. The funny thing was they expected me to be flattered by their attention. It didn’t occur to them that I didn’t want their attention.
Which brings me back to my original thoughts. What do you do if you find yourself in this situation? I vote for direct action. Even the thickest skull can comprehend the meaning of the word ‘no’.
I was speaking with a friend the other day, who happens to have a couple of book deals with one of the major publishers. She told me she was chanting to herself about how much she loves to write. She said she needed to do so or she’d go insane. Which actually got me to thinking…when does writing become like work?
Stephen King insists if you think of it like work then you’re in the wrong business, but I disagree. I think anytime you take a craft seriously there will be moments when the sense of fun is replaced by a feeling of hard work. I believe this holds true no matter what you do. I certainly know as a writer I have my moments where every word I type is like getting a root canal.Keep in mind, this doesn’t make me like writing any less. Yes, sometimes it’s a challenge to keep going, but the passion is still there, outshining the bad.
Today dh and I ventured out to meet friends for lunch. It turned out our friend Steve was celebrating his birthday. (Happy Birthday, Steve!) After having a lovely meal we ventured over to the theater to see League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. There were fifteen of us, which made the experience much more enjoyable. I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out what I thought about the movie. It wasn’t as enjoyable as Pirate’s of the Caribbean, but it had its good points, namely Sean Connery and Stuart Townsend. There is just something about those two men that screams sex. LOL! Unfortunately, hormones aside, their appeal wasn’t enough to save the movie. It wasn’t a bad movie, but it was a B movie, which left me feeling somewhat disappointed.
