Today the world lost one of its brightest stars. Donald O’Connor, from Singing in the Rain fame, died last night at his home in California. He was seventy-eight in years, but not in spirit.
Allegedly his last words were, “I’d like to thank the academy for this honorary lifetime achievement award.” LOL! In the end, the words to his most famous song rang true…make em’ laugh.
Goodbye Mr. O’Connor and thank you for making me and the world laugh for so many years. You’ll be missed.

Today is a cloudy day. You’re probably saying to yourself, so what, big deal, cloudy days are a dime a dozen. Of course that’s true if you live anywhere, but out West.
In Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico cloudy days are fairly rare. It’s like a shock to the system to rise and see a cloud covered sky. Personally I’ve been enjoying it because I walk to work. It’s nice to not have the hot sun beating down upon my head. I say that now, but I know that if the clouds last too long, I’ll be back to demanding sunshine. LOL!
Over the past couple of days I’ve talked to a lot of old friends from high school. We played catch up, while at the same time reliving our younger days. Which got me thinking, when do the younger days become obsolete and present time take over?
I ask this because I sometimes wonder how many people get left behind in the past.
I’m fortunate that the friends I talked with have moved on and live their lives in the present, but I know there are a lot of people out there who never make it out of what they consider their glory days. I think that’s sad. Why is it that high school is their finest hour, when in respect to time, it’s just a blip on the map?
I guess all these things are coming to mind as my high school reunion looms large on the horizon of next year.
Well Underworld wasn’t exactly what I thought it would be. I didn’t think it was a bad movie, but it did leave a lot of holes to be plugged. I got the impression that the story had been written with a sequel firmly in mind the whole time. I don’t really have a problem with that as long as I get a satisfying ending to the story I’ve gone to the theater to see.
On the otherhand, Once Upon a Time in Mexico was pretty much what I expected, lots and lots of shooting and action sequences. It stuck to the storyline of the other two movies in this trilogy. The only surprise was Johnny Depp’s character. Once again, like in Pirates of the Caribbean, he practically stole the show.
Today is my five year wedding anniversary. I truly cannot believe it’s been five years ago today that my husband and I got married. It seems like yesterday we were planning the wedding.
I was told a long time ago that I had too high of expectations when it came to relationships. Well let me tell you, the worst thing you can ever do to yourself is settle for less than you deserve. Life’s way too short to be miserable.
I’m so happy I didn’t listen to those people or I wouldn’t be happily married today.
Yes, I finally was set loose in the bookstore only to have Murphy and his law drop from the sky, right onto my head. The cash register ran out of tape. I couldn’t get the drawer open. The books wouldn’t scan properly. All I can say is it’s a good thing there wasn’t a bar around the corner or I’d have found myself bellying up. LOL!
Wow! I woke up to the phone ringing and it was my mom calling to tell me Atlantean’s Quest 1: The Arrival and the Portal anthology were available at Amazon, Borders, and Barnes & Noble. What a shock! I’m so excited, even though Barnes & Noble are claiming they’re out of stock. (They aren’t, it’s just because they’re new to the system.) The covers should be showing up any day now. This is such terrific news!
Have you ever noticed when you start a new job, it doesn’t matter how much experience you bring to the position, you still come off like you’re completely inept?
I work a couple of hours a week at a used bookstore (just started this week) and you’d think I never had a job before. I’m trying to learn how to work a cash register and a new computer program at the same time. The worst part is how frustrated I get with myself. The owner is really nice and super patient. I just wish I could be.
You know when I started out writing I had no idea you couldn’t get a job doing so. I figured everything else was done from an office, why not writing?
Fast forward several years (we won’t go into how many ;-). I’m now officially an author, whatever that means. Personally I think there are a lot of people out there calling themselves authors, who am I to say they’re not? We are not a rare breed, more like a dime a dozen.
I guess the point, I’m poorly making here is…you are what you believe you are.
Wow! I’m having the most amazing day. I found out I’m a finalist in the Lori Foster/Kensington Brava contest. I’m so excited I can hardly sit still. This of course was followed by sheer panic over my story, but I suppose that’s natural. Now if I can just remember how to breath things will be great. LOL!
