Wishing everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day!

One the best things about writing is playing the ‘what if’ game. You discover so many directions your story can take with a simple twist of words. I’ve been playing the what if game over the last few days trying to work out a problem that I’ve been having in my current WIP. I think I just discovered a piece of the puzzle. I love it when that happens.
Try it sometime and see what direction your imagination soars in.
A day of love, laughter, and forgiveness. I wonder why all those things are relegated to one day a year? I would think if you love someone that you should show that person at least once a day how much you love them. I think that’s probably the strangest thing to me about Valentine’s Day. I’ve seen fifty-million commercials touting diamonds, flowers, and candy. The pitch never changed. It was always show ‘her’ how much you care. This always implies to me that if you do that on this one day you’re free to ignore her the rest of the year. LOL! Perhaps that’s the case. Happy Valentine’s Day.
How does that saying go? What a difference a day makes. I’m here to tell you it makes all the difference in the world. So much has been happening as of late that it’s been hard to stay on top of it. Today I woke up, had some coffee, and then cleaned my whole house. Now maybe it was the simple act of accomplishing SOMETHING. I really don’t know, but I feel great.
On a separate note, I’d like to wish a very special two year old Happy Birthday. I know it’s not until tomorrow, but may you have many, many more L. Much Love, Aunt Jordan.
You know I used to be a sky goddess. For fourteen years I lived in the air. I learned so much about human behavior, including a lot about my take on life. The funny thing is when you step away from a lifestyle or the life you’ve known you actually begin to believe nothing is similiar. That’s where I made a mistake.
I assumed upon leaving the airline I would never have to deal with unions or contracts ever again. For this I was extremely grateful. The relief was short lived.
No matter how far removed you think you are from a situation, life has a way of bringing it back around. I only hope that I can handle this round of negotiations better than I handled the first round.
It’s amazing when you start out in this crazy business known as writing you think that your biggest worry is actually writing the book. Oh, how I wish that this was true. Unfortunately that’s not the case. You then have to worry about finding a home for your work. If you’re lucky you’ll find a place where it will be appreciated.
This sentiment got me thinking. Is it really luck? I’m one of those people that use that word freely, but I don’t actually believe in luck or coincidences. I think timing can be good, but only if it’s backed with hard work.
Like my dh’s Scottish grandma used to say, “What’s for you won’t go by you.”
Lately I feel as if I’m in a Fellini film. Everything that’s happening is unusually colorful and over the top.
Tomorrow is my last day at the my day job. I am truly relieved, although I will miss a lot of the customers.
I received my acceptance into the Citizens Police Academy today. I know it’s just playing at being a police officer, but it’s as close as my dh will allow me to get.
Until next time…see you at the movies.
I’ve recently read two delightful reads. The Wedding Chase by Kasey Michaels and It Happened One Christmas by Susan Wiggs. I guess what’s remarkable about these stories is there’s really no sex scenes.
I should probably tell you straight off I don’t tend to like books like these because I consider them a bit of a tease. But I must say these two authors did such a wonderful job with the storytelling that it makes up for what’s ‘missing’.
