To some people Memorial Day is synonymous with BBQ. To others, it’s simply a three day weekend. But to many it’s a day to remember. If you served in WWII, there is much to remember. The battles, the lost lives, the happiness of the people when they saw you arrive in town after Nazi occupation.
Sadly, with this Memorial Day we have even more lost lives to remember. As of today, over eight hundred men and women have been killed in Iraq, with the death toll rising daily. So on this day of remembrance, take a moment and thank those who paid the ultimate price, so that we could continue to enjoy our bbq’s and three-day weekends.

I found this cute downloadable game called Feeding Frenzy. As you might guess from the name you play a fish and you have to eat your way through the food chain. The more you eat the bigger you get. It’s rather addictive.
Do bad things really come in three’s? Or are we just so hyper aware when something bad happens that we actually seek out other events to complete our cycle? I suppose it’s a bit of which came first, the chicken or the egg. At present, I’m trying to focus on the good. May goodness and light surround you and yours.
Today is the Skillet Licker’s Birthday! I’m sure right about now you’re asking yourself what in the world is a skillet licker? It’s actually a long story that goes all the way back to my college days. Suffice to say, it involves hotplates, a spoon, and a lot of licking. Happy Birthday Skillet Licker!
It has been quite a movie weekend here at the Summers’s house. On Friday we went to see Shrek 2. I have three words for anyone considering going to see this fun movie, ‘Puss in Boots’. He practically steals the show.
Saturday was designated for Troy. It was a monster when it came to eye candy. You almost couldn’t decide where to look. LOL! I actually enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would. Sadly, the anti-war message in the film could easily be applied today. As one of the characters said in the film, “Some things never change.”
Next week ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ opens. Fingers crossed it’s entertaining, since it leads us right into ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Spiderman’. Until next time, see you at the movies. ![]()
I wanted to the announce the winner of the muli-author contest I was involved in. Goldie has won, among other things, the complete Atlantean Series. Congratulations again, Goldie! I hope you enjoy the books.
I must tell you all about a friend of mine. Kathy Love is a hot new Kensington author who’s about to give Jennifer Cruise a run for her money. High praise, you say. Yes indeed, but well worth it. Her book ‘Getting What You Want’ has just been released this month and is already raking in kudos. She has another that’ll be released in a couple of months, which promises to be even better. Check her out. I feel honored to say, “I knew her when.” You can find a link to her site on my ‘links’ page.
Oh mornings, the smell of fresh grass, the chirping of the birds, the quiet stillness that blankets the land, the blast furnace of heat that hits you in the face when you step outside.
Yes, that’s what happens when you walk out your front door starting in the month of May in the Southwest. Of course, in the morning it’s a tad cooler than say eleven o’clock, but you only have about an hour or two window of opportunity to enjoy the temperature, before it climbs to miserable.
When I was flying for a living, I always wondered why I saw so many people jogging at four in the morning. Now I know. It’s the only time it’s cool enough to do so. Can you tell I’m not looking forward to summer?
I’m going to have to make peace with mornings if I want to get outside into the big ‘blue’ room. This is a difficult prospect for a NON-morning person. It feels downright unnatural.
Is anyone else looking forward to seeing this movie? It looks absolutely massive in scope. I can’t wait to see what aspects of the story they keep and what gets tossed out. I have my fingers crossed they’ve created a good story to go along with the ‘visual’ appeal. Now off to the movies.
I keep hearing the ‘All Star’ song from the Shrek soundtrack running through my head. Talk about effective marketing. I’ve only seen the preview a couple of times. All that glitters is gold, stop it, stop it, stop it! It’s like the ‘It’s a Small World’ song that Disney bludgeons you with on that ride. You hear it once and it’s stuck to your brain like super glue. Until next time, enjoy the songs. ![]()
