The older I get the stranger friendships seem to become. Do you remember when you were young you and made friends quickly? It could be over as little as having the same colored jump rope. Oh, the good ol’ days…
Now, you better have the ability to double-dutch, if you want to maintain friendships. I’m sure a lot of the problem is how busy life is these days. Everyone has their own family to take care of, there’s not as much time for socializing, and let us not forget work.
Friendship seems to have taken on many unspoken rules. This is difficult for those of us who need things spelled out, before we get it. Then there are those friends who seem to disappear for months on end, only to suddenly pop up when we least expect it. What’s up with that?
All the uncertainty makes me appreciate the ones who are there, unwavering in their love and support. You all know who you are. Until next time, hold your friends close and your enemies even closer.

Usually I find the friends who disappear and then pop up all of a sudden usually want something. *G* Which is sometimes a bad thing.
by Mad May 5th, 2004 at 6:53 pmI’ve had family behave like that. LOL! The friends that do that with me, just seem to flake for a while. It’s very strange. I give up.
by Jordan May 6th, 2004 at 11:00 amI tend to be a friend that disappears and reappears. Because I’m bad bad bad at keeping in touch and because I am busy.
by Sasha May 6th, 2004 at 3:31 pmMe and my friends tend to all lead such seperate lives, but my friends, my true friends, all know that all they need to do is call when they need me and I’ll be there. And I know I can count on them as well, even if I haven;t talked to them months.
Interesting. Thanks for giving us a different take on the subject, Sasha. I know it’s easy for months to go by without getting in touch. I just have one particular friend that used to be pretty good at getting back to me when I left a message, but lately it seems like he’s fallen off the planet. Actually, it has me worried, because I wouldn’t know if something happened to him.
