I hate writing synopses!

I’ve been working on a synopsis for a werewolf story I started back in 2002. I wish I could say it’s been a labor of love, but I think it leans toward labor…hard labor. I know there are some authors out there who actually enjoy writing these torturous pages. I question their sanity. I honestly think it’s harder to write these things than it is to write the book. I’m off to work on version fifteen. Grr…

  1. I am that insane writer that likes writing them
After the book is ready, though, especially if it is detailed, so that I won’t lose the feeling of adventure as I’m writing it.
    But I like writing synopses. Maybe because I’m 90% plot-driven :)

  2. Daria, I forgive you for being insane. LOL! ;-) Do you mean you write them after the book’s written?

  3. Yes, usually after the book is written — unless I have to write one beforehand, of course. With my Loose Id novella, I had to write the synopsis for the partial. Though I don’t like long synopses—like 10 pages and more. Feels too much like writing the book all over again :)Though I can write a short (a couple pages) synopsis even before I start writing a book because I usually know that much about the plot anyway.
