Okay, let me start by saying I love BAD monster movies. I know I’m not alone. Give me a classic Godzilla or Dracula and it’ll take at least an hour to get the smile to leave my face. I think the original Tremors is brilliant. So with that in mind, I went to see Alien vs. Predator.
It wasn’t a bad film, in the sense of I want to get that hour and a half of my life back, but it certainly was uneventful. The only truly nice touch was that a woman turned out to be the hero again. Other than that, it was completely predictable. Let’s hope Open Water is better.

Oh! That’s so disappointing! I was really looking forward to seeing it and was hoping it was good. I knew they were making a mistake by changing the setting of the original script from an alien planet to Earth–which makes no sense! Grr.
by Larissa August 18th, 2004 at 6:21 amLarissa, Now that concept would have been interesting. Instead, they went with every cliche in the book. You see the ending coming a mile away. (sigh) I so wanted this movie to be fun.
by Jordan August 18th, 2004 at 9:50 amYes! The original concept was SO much better. I read the script and loved it–and then when I heard about the change…ugh. My stomach sank.
My guess is that the Hollywood goofs didn’t think the stakes were high enough. So the answer? Put the aliens and predators on Earth so that the entire world is at stake! Like THAT hasn’t been done before…grr.
by Larissa August 18th, 2004 at 12:25 pmLarissa, That sort of thing is so common with movies these days. I have a dear friend who makes movies and I’m surprised there’s a hair left on his head. LOL! I swear it’s a miracle anything gets made with so many cooks in the kitchen. I have my fingers crossed Resident Evil 2, Blade 3, and Open Water make up for this one. I’ll probably also go see Anaconda, but I know that one’s going to be bad. (wg)
by Jordan August 18th, 2004 at 1:12 pmOoh, I want to see Resident Evil 2! I hated how the first one ended, so I’m dying to see how the story turns out! *g*
by Larissa August 19th, 2004 at 12:34 pmI’m looking forward to Open Water. Things like that, that could really happen scare the bejeesus out of me! *g*
by Sasha August 20th, 2004 at 2:26 amSasha,
Especially since Open Water is based on a true story. The couple it happened to were diving off the Great Barrier Reef. I can’t imagine a more frightening place to be left, considering the Great White population down there. (shudder)
by Jordan August 20th, 2004 at 10:40 amUG Jordan..and my sons wanted to see AVP! LOL I LOVED Alien. I just can’t bring myself to see Open Water. And I can promise I’ll be skipping Anaconda (I’m TERRIFIED of snakes).
I wanna see Cellular and Blade 3 (fanning self)

by cece August 30th, 2004 at 7:43 amI’m debating whether I’m going to see Forgotten. At least, I think that’s the name of it. Looks bloody frightening. I can’t wait to see Blade 3. Looks fun.
