I’m off to High Tea. I will tell you all about it upon my return. Cheers!
Okay, I’m back. I think I should fess up ahead of time and tell you despite the picture on my site, I’m not one of those girly, girls. I have to constantly watch my language. (Not something I’m proud of, simply stating a fact.) I like makeup, but I couldn’t pick out fashion to save my life and my hair is straight for a reason. I never have been able to do crap with it. I’m better off not being handed anything dainty and breakable because it won’t be around long once I touch it. Grace is not my middle name. LOL!
That said, the High Tea was fabulous. The company divine. Clotted cream anyone? Sigh. They had a pianist in the study area where they served High Tea at the Ritz. She gave a delicate ambiance to a rather masculine room. The chairs were comfy like sitting in an English parlor. We were fortunate to have a waiter who was beyond well versed in the language of teas. He is apparently so good the menu has a special section just for ‘his’ selections. I liked the tea I picked out so much I actually grabbed a tin of it to go. How can you go wrong with something named Paris? No Hilton jokes please.
I look at these outings as a chance to get together with a dear friend and to try to make up for my ‘lack’of sophistication. ![]()

The only high tea I’ve done was at the Brown Hotel in Denver at the RWA conference. About 15 or so author friends went. It was great!
by Alison January 20th, 2005 at 1:10 pmI did high tea a few times when I lived in London, and there are a few quaint little tea houses in Seattle. It’s really fun if you have a ladies luncheon out.
Those are always the best.
By the way, I just discovered your website and I have to tell you that I am loving your Atlantean books. Left me drooling and in search of hubby.
Thank you so much for all that you are doing with your writing. I very much look forward to your new books. Ordering now….

Wow Alison! I went to high tea there too. (Loved that hotel.) Hmm…Maybe it was on the same day. I was with several authors who are from Oklahoma. Small world. (WG)
by Jordan January 20th, 2005 at 4:44 pmShannon, Welcome! I’m glad you found my site. (I didn’t know it was lost.
Thanks for stopping by. We did high tea when I was in London a few weeks ago. We made reservations at the Ritz. They certainly do know how to put on a high tea. I bet Seattle has a lot of great tea places. I know they’ve got some tasty coffee. (wg) Thanks so much for the lovely compliment about the Atlanteans. They were and are fun to write. I hope you enjoy the new releases as well. You’ll have to stop by again and let me know.
by Jordan January 20th, 2005 at 4:49 pmThere is only one noble beverage : ” Tea ”
I have a daily ceremony of high tea at home..
without the clotted cream of course !
Tea time is ceremonious when served in the correct way..and there are so many varied sorts. I myself prefer the classical earl grey.
Being from a cosseted english background.
Wonderful writing. Have a look at my blog in between your high tea !
Lovely Regards
Kathleen
