Contest is Over & I’ve moving on…

I will announce the winners later this evening. There were several wonderful entries. It’s going to be extremely difficult to choose. That’s why I’m having my dh do it again. I want to thank everyone who was BRAVE enough to enter. I appreciate your candor.

I have decided to put aside the contemporary single title I’ve been working on. I have tried every way I can think of to make this story work. The rewrite is simply not coming together. I’m going to spend the next few days researching and brainstorming a few more story ideas I have. Hopefully I can make one or more of those work before my agent realizes I have nothing and kicks me to the curb.

  1. If you have to set it aside to really be able to rediscover and work with your characters, to make the story worthy of them, then it’s definitely a good idea to take some time off from them. Sometimes it’s more than writer’s block, sometimes it’s that the characters just aren’t ready for their story yet. I’ve discovered with my writing I can’t force my characters to be ready…they come together in their own time. I’m sorry you’re struggling Jordan and I hope things improve.

  2. Thanks, Shannon. I really appreciate it. I know things will come together eventually. They always do. :o)

  3. Sometimes it’s not worth hitting your head against that brick wall. I know hard it must have been to put this one down (for now). Good luck with the new story. :-)

  4. Jordan, maybe you just need a break? When I’m having a hard time, stalling, often it’s a symptom of just being so brain-tired, I can’t formulate single creative thought! Time off usually helps. Or bills. Bills help….

  5. Jaq, I agree. Sometimes it’s just not worth it.

Suzanne, The bills are what is keeping me going. LOL!
