Where the day’s going…

A good friend called me last night and invited me to go to the movies this afternoon. We’re going to see Beauty Shop. Now this isn’t normally the kind of movie we’d go see, but when we caught the previews last month we couldn’t stop laughing.

I debated whether to pass on the invite since today officially starts Sylvia’s WORD challenge. I wanted to jump right in there. (ie write something…anything at this point beyond the crappy opening I came up with the other day) BUT, the planets must be conspiring against me. Not only is there the movie to think about, but they’re (management) throwing a sunset luau this evening for the American Cancer Society. Have I mentioned they’re holding this event where I live?

Sometimes I guess you just have to call it a day. Aloha kakou! Mahalo!

  1. Yep, some days are just made for a vacation. :) Have fun!

  2. Have fun!! Sounds like a blast. :-D Enjoy for me too.

  3. The down fall of having a life is you have to have the time to live.

  4. Amy, This is definitely one of those days. All that’s missing is the roasted pig. (wg)

  5. Thanks Sylvia! I will. :-D

  6. Pirate, How very true. Does that keep me from fighting it? Nope! LOL! Hope you are able to get some plundering in this weekend also.

  7. You got roasted pig? I got teenagers dressed like Native Americans at a Cub Scout Crossover ceremony. One of them kept jingling his bells in my ear. Did Native Americans have jingle bells? There’s a plot in there somewhere.

  8. LOL Jill! I don’t believe they did have jingle bells. At least the tribe I’m from. (wg)

  9. Sometimes you just need a day off. Hope it was a good one!

  10. How was the movie? I’ve loved the previews.

  11. I LOVED the movie-saw it twice already! Hope you enjoyed as well!

  12. Thanks Chey! We had a nice evening. :-)

  13. Larissa, I enjoyed it. The movie doesn’t have a big plot. Heck, it barely has a little one. LOL! BUT, the thing it does well is characterization. The women and men in this movie make you like them. There’s some really good dialogue. I didn’t belly laugh through the whole thing (like the previews made me do), but I did find myself laughing more times than not. If you enjoyed the previews, then you’ll enjoy the movie. I’m sure I’ll buy it when it comes out on DVD.

  14. Melissa, I definitely thought the movie was cute. Some of the lines from the pregnant character had me in stitches.
