Hit The Goal

This will be my last entry until May. I hope you all meet your writing goals and receive that magical, once in a lifetime call.

I’m psyched because I managed to hit my goal yesterday. I didn’t think I’d make it, but I did. I do not plan on writing today at all. I have a lot to do (clean the house, pack, etc.), since I’m leaving tomorrow morning bright and early. (Have I mentioned I’m NOT a morning person?)

I’m looking forward to seeing my family and friends, but I hate being away from my husband this long. I spoke to a friend the other day, who was not exactly sympathetic to my plight. She said I’d be fine without him and that ten days wasn’t that long. Now I know logically ten days isn’t a long time. I’m sure the time will flyby in a blink, but that doesn’t change the fact that I’ll miss my dh. I never thought I’d be the type of woman who’d prefer a man’s company over my friends. Actually, before meeting my dh, I didn’t. My ex couldn’t get out the door fast enough for me. LOL! (I do still consider him a very nice man and a friend.)

But that all changed when I met my dh. I’m just not myself when he’s not around. I stop sleeping well within a couple of days. We’re constantly on the phone. And I start counting down the days until I get to go home.

You can now all tell me how pathetic I am. (wg) But I’ll let you in on a little secret, I already know. 😉 Am I the only one?

  1. Have fun!! We’ll miss you. I wish I was going to RT. Maybe next year if I can swing both RT and Nationals. Personally, I’m looking forward to my week in Reno without hubby and kids. *g*

  2. Sylvia, I will miss you guys too. I wish you were coming to RT. I also wish I could make National since it’s finally out West, but it’s not going to happen this year. 🙁 Have a wonderful time in Reno. The first one is always the best. 😀

  3. I was married to a pilot. He would be gone for three or four days at a time. Loved those times when he was gone. Did I say I WAS married to him? Clearly, our relationship was lacking something.

But now that I’m remarried to my best friend, I can completely relate to what you’re saying. Yes, you’ll survive, but surviving isn’t the same as feeling complete.

Hope to meet you at RT! I’ll be the one with the cute blonde baby girl and the bemused husband LOL!

  4. Nope, you’re not pathetic at all. Either that or I am too! *g* I have trouble leaving my family even for a night. Hope you have some fun though!

  5. Angie, That should make you easy to spot. 😀 I’ll definitely keep an eye out for you.

  6. Angie, You were married to a pilot. What were you thinking? Blech! LOL! 😉

  7. Amy, I’m glad I am not the only one who feels like that. Angie had it right when she said surviving is not the same as feeling complete. We can all be pathetic together. (wg)

  8. Jordan, I’m the same as you, a complete sap. But I hope you have a great time!!

  9. Just want to wish you a safe trip. Hope you enjoy it! I think it’s sweet that you don’t want to be away from your husband for so long. Enjoy your phone calls.

    Alyssa

  10. Thanks Jill! I knew I wasn’t the only one. 😀

  11. Alyssa, I’m sure I’ll have a fine time. Goodness knows I’ll be burning up the phone lines. If there’s an outage, you know why. LOL!

  12. Okay All, I’m signing off. I’ll see some of you at RT and the rest of you when I get back. Have a wonderful week. May your creative cup runneth over.

  13. Have fun! I’m totally jealous! *g*

  14. Larissa, Wish you could be here. Of course, Missouri is freezing. Brr… Should have brought a coat. :-O

  15. Congrats on hitting your goal! And have a save journey!

  16. Thank you, Silma! I’m enjoying spending time with my family. I wish I had time to see all of my friends who still live here, but I can’t. Not with the conference happening. Have I mentioned it’s cold? And wet? LOL! 😉

  17. Nope, you’re not the only one at all. My husband used to work for a sound company, and before he came off the road for good I saw him an average of four days a month. After three years, I got used to that, but we still talked on the phone daily. Now he’s been home for three years, and on the occasions he has to go out of town I find myself unable to sleep. And I love hanging out with my husband, although I also love just getting together with the girls sometimes.

Congrats on hitting your goal, and have fun on that trip!

  18. Thanks Lynn! Same thing happened to me, but I was the one who went from being gone a lot of days to being home. It’s been a nice change of pace. :o)

I will get home today…fingers, toes, and knees crossed. I had a wonderful time at RT seeing all my friends and meeting so many new ones. I have so MUCH market news to share with you all. So stay tuned. (wg)

  19. sniff! This sure is a lonely little blog right now! Hope everyone’s having a good start to their May:)
