What Have You Done?

Raine brought this question up the other day on her blog. Cece picked up the ball and ran with it. I’ve been pondering my answer over the last few days. The question is: “What have you done with this year?”

I feel quite off track for the year. I had specific writing goals I wanted to meet and have not come close yet. (Not good since it’s already July.) What goals you ask? I planned on completing three single titles this year. How many have I finished? None.

The only thing I’ve completed this year is AQ4. Which begs the question, what have I been doing? I’m truly not happy with the answer I received. I spent the first half of the year attempting to get over the turmoil of last year’s upheaval. Once I did get back into writing, I fought with a project that literally knocked me into writer’s block. (Can you see the months on the calendar fluttering by? They’re moving almost as fast as the excuses.;) I had to put everything aside and go back to a project that wouldn’t stress me. Hence, AQ4’s completion. Yet, for that one completion, I have six other partials stuffed in files.

Currently, I’m working on one of the partials. I plan to submit it, although I anticipate being laughed out of the publishing house. After I mail it off, I’m going to go back to work on another story. I hope to have it finished by September. I will then return to the first partial I submitted and finish that manuscript. At least that way I’ll come close to meeting my 2005 goals.

Have you met your goals for this year? What have you accomplished? What would you like to accomplish before the end of the year?
