Can’t believe it’s April already. The year is flying by. Blink. My local RWA chapter is holding its conference this month. It should be terrific. We have a lot of big names coming. I’m speaking at it, too. I think I’m going to have to do a couple of dry runs to make sure that I’m ready. Can we say stage fright? I think we can. :-O
Yesterday, dh and I went to see Ice Age 2. It was cute like the original, just not quite as funny. I’d still recommend it if you liked the first movie.
Dropped by Wally world afterwards and grabbed the ‘Bump in the Night’ anthology with JD Robb, et al, ‘Dates from Hell’ anthology with Kim Harrison, et al, and Christine Feehan’s Dark Demon. I’m probably going to hold off reading the latter, since the reviews are so mixed. I need them to die down so that I’m not inadvertently influenced by others’ opinions. I was hoping to grab Angela Knight’s new book, but it wasn’t out. Someone obviously pulled an April Fool’s thing on me by saying it would be released on the first. *ggg*
Going back to Pilates tomorrow. Hopefully it won’t kick my butt too much.
The story that I’ve been working on is starting to take the strangest turn. When I first began writing this book, it barely had a romance. (This book is a real departure for me.) Now, all of a sudden, I’m coming up with ways to add a REALLY sexy undertone to the book that borders on erotic. I’m like WTF? Where is this coming from? Why didn’t I see this earlier? And should I really go with this or keep the book how I originally envisioned it? All good questions that I don’t have the answers to.
I plan to explore my options this week, since I intend for this book to be finished by the end of this month. I’d hoped to be further along, but what are you going to do? With that in mind, my blog will be a little neglected. I’ll still write at least three entries, but that’ll be about it. Must continue to concentrate on writing.
April 2nd, 2006

So I was minding my own business cleaning house like I’m supposed to when the SIL said “Wanna go to Borders?” Nah, I’d much rather stay home and chase dust bunnies. :p
Good luck on the story - I hate it when the muses decide to mess with the story. Wish I had answers for you too, but since I’m still a novice …
by Eve April 2nd, 2006 at 3:16 pmEve, I can see where that would’ve been a tough decision. *g* As for being a novice, so am I.
by Jordan April 2nd, 2006 at 3:30 pmI went to Borders today, and although I saw two books I wanted to buy, I didn’t. I have to finish all the other 10 in my TBR pile. *lol*
As for the writing, I totally hear ya. I started writing this second book on a vampire series. I had this idea of the villain and all. Well, as I kept writing, suddenly the villain isn’t like a true villain, but someone else. A woman. Yikes! I didn’t even see that one coming! And then I know more about this new villainess, ‘coz suddenly I get all these scenes for a story in which the previous villain is the hero, and he’s being manipulated by this villainess. Another thing, I thought the original villain now turn hero was straight but he was just teasing the hero of book 2. Well, now I know for sure the villain-hero is gay. I was WTH! Okay… He’s going to fall in love with a fellow warrior. *lol*
BTW, if you understand all that, don’t worry. I’m still confused and riding tonz of emotions coming from the characters. I feel like I’m chocking.
by Silma April 2nd, 2006 at 6:12 pmSilma, It sounds like you have your ‘hands’ full. *ggg*
by Jordan April 2nd, 2006 at 6:15 pmHey, never fight the story. The story is always right. If it wants to go all erotic on you, why not? Have fun!
by Charlene April 2nd, 2006 at 6:21 pmCharlene, I don’t think I have a choice. LOL!
by Jordan April 2nd, 2006 at 6:29 pmJordan, that’s tough. On the one hand, you’ve got your story firmly in mind, know where you’re going…then here comes this other idea shouldering its way in, changing everything. And you can’t really tell if it’s for the better if you don’t try it!
There oughtta be a law, lol.
by raine April 2nd, 2006 at 8:23 pmRaine, You have noted my problem correctly. I won’t know until I try, but it’s going to suck BIG ONES if it doesn’t work out and I have to go back and strip it from the storyline.
by Jordan April 2nd, 2006 at 9:08 pmHey, your muses aren’t nekkid are they? Because that always messes me up when mine are. *gg*
Silma - 10 books on the TBR pile? I counted mine today - 83. It’s no wonder Borders rolls out the red carpet and pours champagne when I walk in. :0
by Eve April 2nd, 2006 at 10:06 pmEve, You and me both sister. Borders practically throws me a party when I walk in the door. I have easily over a hundred books in my TBR pile, but that doesn’t stop me from buying more. It’s a strange comfort thing with me. I keep hoping I can take months to just read and read and read. *g* Pipe dream I know. LOL!
by Jordan April 3rd, 2006 at 10:02 amOh, and my muse doesn’t tend to walk around naked, although my hero did in the scene I just tweaked.
by Jordan April 3rd, 2006 at 10:03 amI’m wrestling with a story now myself. It wants to go one way, and I want it to go the other way. I wonder who will win. LOL!
by shesawriter April 3rd, 2006 at 3:28 pm(((Jordan and story))) Raine had to slap my hand the other day when I nearly changed something. *ggg*
staying out of the book discussion *sigh*
by Cece April 3rd, 2006 at 4:13 pmShesawriter, I can tell you which one is winning with me at the moment. *ggg*
by Jordan April 3rd, 2006 at 5:04 pmCece, I feel like I don’t have a choice at the moment. I’m going to see where this new thread takes me since it isn’t changing the overall story, only the tone.
by Jordan April 3rd, 2006 at 5:05 pmYou GO, Girl. Best on the story - I kinda like it when my characters surprise me. *grin*
by Sunny Lyn April 3rd, 2006 at 9:37 pmThanks Sunny! Sometimes it’s fun and sometimes…bang zoom to the moon Alice.
