I did it! I finished a month of fitness boot camp. I’m sure there are some of you out there thinking ‘one month, big deal’. Well for me, it was a big deal. I’ve never worked out at 5:30am in my life, not even when I was in school. I thought it was funny because today the instructor asked us about our jobs. When I said I was a writer, she freaked. Turns out she LOVES the kind of books that I write. Although, she was shocked to find out that I actually wrote ‘those’ types of books. She said she would’ve never guessed that from my morning personality. LOL! It’s funny, I would’ve never guessed that she read them.
I haven’t decided yet what I’m going to do for exercise next. I may sign up for another month of boot camp, but I’m really not sure. My knees are SO NOT happy right now. Dh thinks I need to have a fitness goal. He says it’s easier to workout if you’re working toward something. I’m sure he’s right, but I can honestly say that I’ve never had a fitness goal in my life. I have always been a team sports person, volleyball to be specific. (Not watching, playing.) I didn’t enjoy track in school–at all. And that was after winning medals. Running around in circles just didn’t do a whole lot for me. I like martial arts because I enjoy hitting things. *ggg* So maybe I’ll have to look at something in that direction. It’s going to take some thought.
The book is still rolling along. I managed another 3K+ last night, which brings my weekly total to 11.5K so far. I hope to get at least another 2K today. I’m currently sitting at a little over 83K total. I’m in chapter twenty-one of what I hope to be a twenty-four chapter book. It looks like if I keep at this pace, the book will be done by the end of the weekend. It should be somewhere around 95K when I finish. Wish me luck.
Any big plans for Memorial Day weekend? I think other than work our butts off, we’re going to go see the Da Vinci Code and X-Men 3.
May 26th, 2006

Ooo, I want to see X-3! Don’t think it’s gonna happen, though. But I’m making good headway on the proposal I need to turn into EC and then I can hit the next thing on the list. *g*
Good for you for making it through boot camp! You could always do a kick-boxing class through a gym. That way you could avoid doing full-contact sparring.
by Charlene May 26th, 2006 at 10:27 amCharli, When I study martial arts, it tends to be Krav Maga. It would be a LONG, LONG time before I could work up to sparring. I’m way too out of shape for that. I’d get my butt kicked. *g*
by Jordan May 26th, 2006 at 10:36 amGlad you made it through the class! You know, they do have team sports for people of your age and ummm…current physical condition. I bet you could find a nice weekly volleyball game, Just a thought. Oh yeah, and I would NEVER make it through that boot camp thing so I am proud of you for finishing!
by Teri May 26th, 2006 at 12:28 pmThanks Teri! LOL! I may look into that, although I’m not really into ’sand’ volleyball.
by Jordan May 26th, 2006 at 12:40 pmWe *were* going to see X-men until the kids pissed me off. Now I think I’ll just go next weekend without them =(
by Cece May 26th, 2006 at 12:48 pmCece, Oh no!
That doesn’t sound good. Fingers crossed they come back to your way of thinking.
by Jordan May 26th, 2006 at 1:12 pmYAY JORDAN! A month of bootcamp is Not easy! You should be proud!!
by Sasha May 26th, 2006 at 1:41 pmHooray on finishing boot camp…and for the excellent progress on your manuscript.
by Julie May 26th, 2006 at 1:53 pmThis weekend I’ll be packing and looking for houses. We might try to fit in that new scary movie though. Enjoy the Da Vinci Code & X-Men!
Thanks Sasha!!! Enjoy those hockey fans.
by Jordan May 26th, 2006 at 2:21 pmThanks Julie! I have my fingers and toes crossed for you on the house hunt. May you find the perfect one.
I didn’t realize a scary movie came out…says the big chicken. *ggg*
by Jordan May 26th, 2006 at 2:22 pmJordan…have you considered finding an adult volleyball league? Our Fedex chick at work (she’s a hoot) plays softball and soccer =) Just a thought….
too late, #1 pissed me off. I’ll go see it without them =)
by Cece May 26th, 2006 at 5:12 pmCece, My sister plays on a softball league. I’m so out of shape I’d be the last kid picked for ANY team. It’s so sad. I’ve fallen so far.
Sorry to hear about the children. Enjoy the movie with or without them.
by Jordan May 26th, 2006 at 7:02 pmLuck on reaching that writing goal–I’m sure you’ll make it.
Just saw The Code. I didn’t come out of the movie happy. But won’t drop any spoilers…
by raine May 26th, 2006 at 7:10 pmOh no, Raine.
What didn’t you like about the movie…in general terms?
I did manage to write another chapter today. I think the book will be finished in about 30 or so pages. I’ll know for sure tomorrow, when I write chapter 23.
by Jordan May 26th, 2006 at 7:34 pmCongrats on the bootcamp - but your knee comment kind of bothers me. Have you had them checked out to make sure you’re not damaging them in some way? I know, I come from a long line of arthritis (which for me began in my early 30s) and osteoporosis - so of course my mind gears that way.
Me - I’m still caught up in decorating hell.
by Eve May 26th, 2006 at 8:03 pmEve, I’ve already had surgery on the one. I probably need it on both. :/ Too many years of volleyball and horseback riding.
by Jordan May 26th, 2006 at 8:44 pmJordan, I don’t want to discourage anybody. It may be me, may be that I had high expectations. But I’d read the book, so I know it wasn’t the plot, and I know both lead actors are pretty darned good. So it’s just my OPINION, but I was rather disappointed with the directing. It was a bit too “even-keel” for me. I’ll leave it at that, and you can let me know what you think when you see it.
by raine May 26th, 2006 at 8:48 pmThanks Raine! I’ll let you know what I think. So far everyone that I know who’s gone to see has had a very strange reaction to the movie…except the people who ‘haven’t’ read the book. I’m looking forward to seeing it, but it doesn’t rank up there with Pirates. *ggg*
by Jordan May 26th, 2006 at 10:02 pmNothing ranks up there with Pirates! LOL
I also have Not read the book. I didn’t read it as soon as I found out there would be amovie because Movies are never as good as books, and I love movies too. LOL
DId that make sense?
by Sasha May 27th, 2006 at 2:59 amSasha, It makes perfect sense.
by Jordan May 27th, 2006 at 10:30 amMany congrats on surviving boot camp! Look after those knees though..
by Saskia May 28th, 2006 at 3:13 amThanks Saskia!!!
