Dh went to the mailbox last night and brought back my new box of Blazes. I must say there are some good sounding ones in there this month. The main one I want to talk about today is Hidden Obsession by Joanne Rock. It’s a Blaze…and a TIME-TRAVEL. Yep, you read that right. It’s a time-travel that sends the hero back 800 years.
Now, I know everyone has an opinion about category romance and time-travels for that matter, but I ask that you do me this one favor. Even if you never buy Harlequin Blazes, PLEASE go out and purchase this book. WHY? Because I’d really like to see the Blaze line accept more paranormals. Selfish, I know.
Anyhoo, back to the book delivery. I swear it’s like tearing into presents at X-mas, when that box arrives. I get so excited and nearly squeal with delight. And believe me when I say, I’m NOT a squealer. I don’t tend to like surprises…period.
The other books in the batch are Letting Go by Mara Fox. It’s a Wrong Bed story that actually sounds cute. A woman goes on a singles cruise after her boyfriend cheats on her. She finds a Latin lover named Andres and goes shag crazy. *g* She’s happy until she returns to work and discovers her ‘Latin lover’, whose name isn’t Andres, but Tony, working as the new system’s analyst. I thought it sounded funny, so I’m looking forward to reading it.
The next book is called The Player by Rhonda Nelson. It’s a Men out of Uniform book. The premise is a Ranger promises his commanding officer one favor after he gets out of the military. The commander calls in that favor by asking him to seduce his granddaughter away from another man. Sounds hot, doesn’t it?
The other one that sounds interesting is Two Hot by Cara Summers. It’s basically about a woman who decides to act upon a long-running attraction by sleeping with the object of her desire. The sex is incredible, which is why she’s shocked to find herself attracted to ‘another’ man two days later. I think the story is a bit like Superman and Clark Kent. Same guy, different looks.(wg) I did think it was an interesting premise.
The other two books are more straight forward. Destiny’s Hand by Lori Wilde is a bit of a ‘rebuild a relationship’ story, but it’s part of the White Star series. A husband and wife wanting to put the spark back in their marriage plan mutual seductions. One becomes obsessed with the White Star box and has to be saved by the other. Karen Kendall’s Midnight Touch is an After Hours book. Her heroine is trying to escape her rich family, while the hero hides his true occupation.
All and all, a pretty good roundup.
Have any of you bought any books that have slayed you lately?

Ebooks: Just read NJ Walters’ Unmasking Kelly (EC Quickie) and loved it!
Print: I’m on an Otherworld binge. I’m waiting for Bitten to come in (had to order it) but I’ve got Stolen and Broken to console me. Kelly Armstrong seriously rocks.
by Charlene Teglia June 1st, 2006 at 1:09 pmI’m waiting for a few of the SIMs and Harl Intrigues to hit the shelves at borders. (They’re my main stays for reading. Though I bet Nocturne will be added into my monthly shopping sprees). Plan to binge on Saturday. I saw Joanne’s book and was blown away by the time travel aspect. She’s local to me, even spoke at our RWA. I’ve read her historical stuff so maybe I’ll give it a whirl. The Wrong Bed sounds really fun, though. I’m adding that to my list. Thanks for the tips. I’m just finishing Sins of the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Next up: Superromance The Other Woman by Brenda Novak: and 2 Intrigues: Return to Falcon Ridge by Rita Heron : Raw Talent, by Debra Webb. I’ve been hard at work on the WIP, so I’m slowing down on my reading. The TBR pile is growing again… (BEG)
by Ursula June 1st, 2006 at 4:58 pmCharlene, I’m reading Michelle Pillow’s ‘The Playful Prince’ right now and really enjoying it. I like NJ’s writing, so I’m going to have to pick that up, especially since it’s a quickie. And yes, Kelly Armstrong is terrific.
by Jordan June 1st, 2006 at 6:04 pmUrsula, I hear you about the ‘to be read’ pile, growing steadily. :-O I can’t wait for the Nocturne line to hit shelves either. I’d love to write for them. *g* So many good books out there, so little time to read.
by Jordan June 1st, 2006 at 6:07 pmRight now I’m reading Amanda Ashley’s Desire After Dark. So far it’s promising to be a good read. As for ebooks, I downloaded Elisabeth Drake’s Waking The Shadows, her first release from Freya’s Bower. I got a sneak peak at Fire and Ice from my tough critique partner, Viviene King. It’s awesome! There’s also Loribelle Hunt’s Bound by Love. Those ebooks are from Cobblestone Press.
by Silma June 1st, 2006 at 6:22 pmGlad to see Blaze branching out.

by Jordan June 1st, 2006 at 7:31 pmI finished reading Sword of Darkness by Kinley McGregor. I can’t wait for the second book. *g*
by Tempest Knight June 1st, 2006 at 8:09 pmTempest, You shouldn’t have to wait long Sherrilyn writes VERY fast. Bless her little fingers.
She’s a terrific author.
by Jordan June 1st, 2006 at 8:44 pmI jsut finished A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole…LOVED IT, now I’m reading Working for the Devil by Lilith Saintcrow,,,and I’m LOVING it too…I have Megan’s Mark by Lora Leight and Doppelganger by Marie Brennan on deck to read…
by Vivi Anna June 1st, 2006 at 9:18 pmI’m reading The Player now, and you already know how I feel about the cover. *gg* I also bought the Joanne Rock book without even looking at the blurb because, like you, I want this series to be a success.
by Eve June 1st, 2006 at 9:40 pmVivi Anna, I’m going to have to try Kresley again. I read her novella, but didn’t care for it. Maybe I was just in a mood. *g* I was reading Lilith until Silma told me how it ended. (At least I think it was Silma. And yes, I asked her.:) I have Megan’s Mark in my TBR pile, but I’m saving it and Angela Knight’s books for a comfort read day.
Let me know what you think of Doppelganger. I hear good things about it.
by Jordan June 1st, 2006 at 10:02 pm(((Hugs))) Thank you, Eve! Let me know what you think about the Player. It looks fun.
by Jordan June 1st, 2006 at 10:03 pmI too have recently finished A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole, it was good. I really enjoyed it, not my alltime favorite read but definitely worth a read through. I have to mention an anthology that I adore it’s called Hard Stuff by Karin Tabke, Bonny Edwards and Sunny. This is Karin’s first major release and I had never heard of Bonnie or Sunny either and I have to admit it’s always by my bed for a good read and a little pick me up. *wg* It comes with a sexually explicit warning though. It’s part of the new Aphrodisia line by Kensington. I own almost every book released from that collection and am really really liking them. I like my femmes a little risqu.
by Shannon June 2nd, 2006 at 7:00 amI was standing in line next to Eveyln Vaughn when we were purchasing our remainder books after RT. She had a few of hers and I had about 4 of mine leftover. I saw her cover and it was a Bombshell with a family of witches and a reluctant witch who cast a spell that went wrong in a sort of revenge thing. I was so surprised it was an HQ Bombshell! I read the blurbs and bought it and am looking forwar to reading it.
by Cheyenne McCray June 2nd, 2006 at 8:14 amI’ve always loved time travels, as well as other paranormal elements in stories. I’m pleased and surprised Blaze has released a book like this. I’ll definitely pick it up. Wouldn’t have known about it if you hadn’t posted this, Jordan–thanks!
by Daisy Dexter Dobbs June 2nd, 2006 at 8:22 amShannon, I’ve heard of Hard Stuff. I’ll have to check it out.
by Jordan June 2nd, 2006 at 11:18 amChey, I knew Bombshell was venturing into paranormal a bit. I own a vamp and one of Evelyn’s witch books. I just hope that the Blaze paranormals do well enough so that they want to buy more. They have a vamp series coming up in the fall.
by Jordan June 2nd, 2006 at 11:24 amThanks Daisy!
by Jordan June 2nd, 2006 at 11:24 amSo far I’m enjoying The Player, but then I like Rhonda Nelson’s writing.
by Eve June 2nd, 2006 at 11:51 amEve, Cool! I’m looking forward to reading it after I finish editing my ST.
by Jordan June 2nd, 2006 at 12:07 pmTearing into a box of new books is always like Christmas for me!
Loved Hidden Obsession - the heroine was wonderful. Rhonda Nelson’s The Player was really good, too.
Enjoy your Blazes!
by Karen June 2nd, 2006 at 12:44 pmYeah, I get the same thrill I did as a kid. Thanks Karen! Did you like Letting Go?
by Jordan June 2nd, 2006 at 1:41 pmJordan, I’m hoping you *DO* write for Nocturne. Dark, sensual paranormal - that’s totally you!
by Ursula June 2nd, 2006 at 2:38 pmThanks Ursula (((Hugs)))! I plan to send them something as soon as I clear my plate.
