First off, I think the next round of book deals seem to be occurring. Sharon from Writeminded just landed another book deal. This time with Berkley. Also Anya Bast, a long-time EC author, just landed a book deal with Berkley.
Berkley seems to be snatching up a lot of terrific authors these days. I wonder who will be number three, since these things seem to come in batches.
In other locations on the web, the debate about the Rita Awards is heating up. (The Rita is the big award that Romance Writer’s of America give out at their National convention.) It will take place next month in Atlanta, Georgia. The debate is about the Rita categories. Let’s just say there isn’t a hot one and a lot of people believe there should be. Me, I have an opinion, but you know what they say about those…*ggg*
Other than that, I’m editing away. I tried to write and edit, but as always I can’t seem to split my attention that way. :/ So it looks like I’ll have to bust my butt to finish edits so that I can get back to my urban fantasy. I must admit, I REALLY miss it.
It was a strange day yesterday. I went in to workout at my gym and found out that it was closing. Yes, you read that right. They closed my gym. I’m not sure yet what I’m going to do as an alternate. It was not only a way for me to exercise, but also to get out of the house regularly. It’s going to be hard to replace. I’m looking into alternatives now.
I had something more to add, but for some reason I spaced. I am off to meet a friend for coffee, so I’d better scoot before I’m late. If I remember what it was, I’ll post it later. Hate it when that happens.

Ohh I love Anya Bast!
thanks for the congrats, Jordan!
by Sharon June 6th, 2006 at 10:08 amYou’re welcome, Sharon. And congrats again.
by Jordan June 6th, 2006 at 11:48 amThat sucks that your gym closed! Sheesh!
by Tracy June 6th, 2006 at 1:30 pmTracy, I know. The reason I joined this one was that it was close enough that I’d actually go. I will figure something out. Until I do there are always exercise DVD’s. :/
by Jordan June 6th, 2006 at 1:50 pmTo bad you don’t have a gym nearby with a Starbuck’s next door. That’s how I picked mine.
by Bryan June 6th, 2006 at 2:13 pmBryan, LOL! Must have priorities. *ggg* My old one didn’t have a Starbucks, but it did have a breakfast cafe. *g* I miss it already.
by Jordan June 6th, 2006 at 2:54 pmOh no! Not another RITA controversy! Why am I not surprised… *rofl* Sorry to hear your gym is closing. But don’t use that as an excuse not to work out.
by Silma June 6th, 2006 at 7:02 pmSilma, *g* I won’t.
by Jordan June 6th, 2006 at 9:09 pmThat’s too bad that your gym is closing, I wonder why. I would think that they’d be able to make a profit simply based on the number of people who join the gym throughout the spring and summer to shed the winter pounds. Hmm. I used to belong to 24 Hour Fitness but honestly I found it too corporate, sure it’s great they have locations all over the world but there was no sense of friendly, normal people. I use the fitness center at my apartment, it doesn’t have as much variety but it forces me to be creative.
by Shannon June 7th, 2006 at 6:26 amI’ve misplaced my brain, so I’m the last one to harrass you for forgetting something.
It’s heating up again? Sheesh. Well, I’ve already made my opinion known too, which obviously everybody paid attention to. *gg*
Sorry about the gym.
by Eve June 7th, 2006 at 7:18 amHurrah for Sharon and Anya! Dagnabbit on the gym. Rita heat, who’d a thought? Snicker. Seriously, I realize it’s a big and complex undertaking but I do hope the end result is a better contest.
by Charlene Teglia June 7th, 2006 at 7:27 amShannon, It had something to do with the equipment. I’m not exactly sure why, but I am sure money was involved. :/ I plan to use the gym at my home too. It’s actually pretty good. I just really wanted to get away from the house. This week, I’m going to stick with DVD’s. I need to finish editing, so they’ll have to do.
by Jordan June 7th, 2006 at 8:03 amEve, I hear you. *g*
by Jordan June 7th, 2006 at 8:03 amCharlene, I hope you’re right about the contest. I know it’s going to get heated.
by Jordan June 7th, 2006 at 8:04 amDid you remember? LOL
Happens to me all the time…despite all the sticky notes I write.
by Cece June 7th, 2006 at 10:42 amCece, LOL! No! I haven’t. (shaking head)
