Very Strange Week

Yesterday was my brother’s birthday. Happy Birthday, bro. :)

It’s been a very strange week thus far. (Yes, I realize it’s only Wednesday.) I don’t know if it’s the boxing/bagging of the books or the waiting, but I can ‘feel’ the stress. Maybe the planets are out of alignment again. *g* The edits still haven’t arrived, but I’m not worried yet. If I don’t have them by next week, then maybe. I have been keeping myself busy with writing business things. (Never fun.)

I’m just not good with waiting, even though I have plenty to keep me busy. I’ll be happy once next week rolls around, so that several items are off my plate…and shoulders.

How do you all deal with waiting?

  1. Good luck with the boxing and bagging of books. I tend to not keep things that I’m not going to read. I have so many that I buy from my chapter members to support them that are just sitting there and I don’t know if I’ll ever have time to read them. I tend to not take home books from conference–very few, anyway, because I just want to read in certain genres, and others don’t really appeal to me, and I know I’ll never have time to read them all. Hope your week goes better! BTW, I think I missed something on the HQ edits–did you sell that ms????

  2. Jordan, I HATE waiting for anything, especially when it comes to writing. I just about drove myself insane the two weeks before I found out about the Nocturne deal. Because I knew the news was coming, and I have other stuff out there, I had no clue what to work on…so I didnt’ write for 7 days and that nearly killed me. I cried, I laughed, I screamed, anything to keep myself occupied. I have to have something to do, something to strive for, a deadline….or I go absolutely stark raving mad!

  3. Chey, Nope, no sale yet. :) I used to take home a ton of books from conferences, but I’ve been getting pickier. I plan to be even pickier still when I head to Nationals next month. I’m just not getting anything read anymore that doesn’t have the word proposal attached to it. *ggg*

  4. Vivi, That’s kind of what’s happening now with me. I’m so geared up for these Blaze edits that everything else is on hold and it’s driving me bonkers. :/

  5. I try to deal with waiting by staying busy with other things. Not always possible, but I try.

  6. You’re asking the wrong person about waiting. I have absolutely no patience whatsoever. LOL! But when in a pinch, I go to Blockbuster and rent a bunch of movies. It’s a great way to keep your mind off the obvious.

  7. Charlene, I’ve been trying. :)

  8. Tanya, Movies sound good. I think I’m going to watch all the episodes of Supernatural that I have saved. *ggg*

  9. I have to go with movies too (esp a series on DVD *ggg*) and cleaning which you’re already doing!

  10. Cece, Maybe I’ll watch Underworld again too. Hmm… The maids come tomorrow, so I won’t be cleaning unless it’s to gather more books. ;)

  11. I try to keep myself busy. Either I’m writing another story or doing research. Most of the time I take the downtime to enjoy doing things I normally don’t have time to do. For instance, watching DVDs. I’ve seen Nanny McPhee, Underworld 2, Fun with Dick and Jane, and The Pink Panther. I like light stuff to lighten me up. *lol* I also like reading to release tension. I finished Viehl’s Dark Need last night. Today I read a few ebooks (which are posted in my blog), and tonight I’m starting Monning’s Spell of the Highlander.

  12. Silma, I love Karen Monings work. Hot, hot, hot heroes. Yum. :D

  13. I sleep - well, obviously not tonight. (shhh, I’m not supposed to be here)*gg*

  14. Eve, Get your butt to bed. :P

  15. …How do you all deal with waiting?…

    Badly.

But then, I think I’ve mentioned that once or twice here…or more, lol.

  16. I’m trying to - honest. *g*

  17. Raine, LOL! I think you might have. *ggg*

  18. Sure Eve, sure. ;) *g*

  19. OMG! I forgot his birthday. I better go look at that Amazon list huh? DARN.
