I am REALLY looking forward to seeing the backside of these edits. Yes, I’m still slogging through them, but I did have time to get to the bookstore yesterday. *g* I picked up And Able by Lucy Monroe and Edge of Danger by Cherry Adair, her new paranormal series. I can’t wait to dig into both, but I’m making myself hold off until I get edits done.
I rarely get excited by ebooks, but I saw one the other day that has me anxious to grab. It’s called Hunting Diana by Doreen Orsini. I’m not familiar with the author. Triskelion is going to release the novel within the next couple of weeks. I read the excerpt and I was hooked. I hope the book turns out to be as good as it sounds.
I really have curbed by book buying impulse. So much so, that I actually put titles back before I left the store yesterday. I’m only allowed to buy authors from my keeper shelf or books that I’m really excited about. Otherwise, they must stay in the bookstore because I’m just not reading them.
Are there any books you’re looking forward to that will be released soon?
July 2nd, 2006

Since the imposed 1% sales tax that started yesterday, I’m not buying books at Borders any more. I’m going to order them through B&N.com instead. Unless they’re ebooks. Speaking of ebooks, I read Snowbound by Susan Greene, Crossing Borders by Cora Zane, and last Friday I won a copy of Lonely Places by A.L. Debran. I’m not into western erotic romance, but I must admit it was really good! So go by Cobblestone Press and check out their new releases! *g*
by Silma July 2nd, 2006 at 2:14 pmI have to get Michelle Pillow’s “Maiden & the Monster”
by Nancy Henderson July 2nd, 2006 at 2:18 pmSilma, I’m not familiar with the tax you’re talking about. I know the taxes here are closer to 8% and change. Are you saying there is an extra 1% added to that?
Do you work for Cobblestone Press? If not, they should be paying you for all your fab promo you do for them. *ggg*
by Jordan July 2nd, 2006 at 3:27 pmNancy, I haven’t read that one either. I’ll have to look it up.
by Jordan July 2nd, 2006 at 3:28 pmGeez, Jordan, we have to meet one day. lol. Once again we’re on the exact same page. I’ve starting using the library again–6 books checked out on my last visit. Like you (again, gg) I’m only buying keeper/auto-buys, or books that I’m *really* excited about. Books that only sounds kinda good or intriguing will be library borrows, if possible. The thing is there are so many books out there, and so many awesome ones, too. I can’t possibly read them all anyways. I’ve made my peace with that.
by jaye July 2nd, 2006 at 4:56 pmVanessa, That’s what I had to do too. It was hard making peace, but I can’t deny the sense of relief that comes with it. We definitely have to meet.
by Jordan July 2nd, 2006 at 5:00 pmI am staying completely away from the bookstore until Fall. It’s killing me, but finances demand it…
I will DEFINITELY be picking up J.R. Ward’s Zsadist story, though–not soon enough.
by raine July 2nd, 2006 at 5:35 pmJordan - Here in PR we didn’t have to pay taxes as you do in USA. Now they want us to pay 6.5% sales tax - 5.5% will go to the government and 1% to the towns. Trying to pass this law caused thousand of government employees to lose their jobs back in May. It got nasty, I’m telling ya! Right now there’s this tense peace within the government. The law for 5.5% sales tax hasn’t been passed yet. But yesterday the local 1% sales tax went into effect.
As for Cobblestone, no, I don’t work for them. *rofl* I just know two of their authors, Viviene King and Susan Green. I went there to buy their ebooks, you know, to show support and all. But I’ve been hooked since then. Lots of good stories! Especially on werewolves. *wg* Gotta love those once-a-month-furry heroes!
by Silma July 2nd, 2006 at 7:02 pmRaine, I hear you on the finances. Ours are going to get tight over the next several months.
Can’t wait for the JR Ward book either.
by Jordan July 2nd, 2006 at 7:44 pmSilma, You guys have been extremely lucky. We’ve been paying 8.25% for years. The UK is ten times worse. I think I’ve been living in the wrong place. *g*
I’ll definitely check out the werewolves.
by Jordan July 2nd, 2006 at 7:46 pmI’m counting down to the release of The Sharing Knife part one (Fall 06). Love Bujold!

Mona Lisa Awakening by Sunny
Retrieval by Jeanie London
Witchling by Yasmine Gordon

by Vivi Anna July 3rd, 2006 at 8:38 amCharli, I have one of Bujold’s books in my TBR pile.
by Jordan July 3rd, 2006 at 9:41 amVivi Anna, I’m looking forward to a few of the books you listed. I’m definitely grabbing Shiloh’s this month.
by Jordan July 3rd, 2006 at 9:42 amIris Kammerer has just announced the third book in her Der Tribun series (dealing with the Varus battle and aftermath), scheduled for autumn release, will come out March 2007. Argh. Grumble
Next on my list is the paperback of Elizabeth Chadwick’s The Greatest Knight (this month) and GRR Martin’s Feast for Crows (autumn). And the next in Sheila’s Stardoc series.
I just bought Scott Oden’s Men of Bronze (paperback) and Bernard Cornwell’s Lords of the North (trade paperback that, weirdly enough, only sells in Germany, the British have to get the more expensive hardcover).
by Gabriele July 3rd, 2006 at 3:40 pmGabriele, Nothing like a little light reading.
*g*
by Jordan July 3rd, 2006 at 4:49 pmI think mine is about the same as yours Jordan. Ours was like 7.5 but went up because they’re building a new football staduim that I did not vote for for the Cowboys who are moving even further away from Dallas *eyerolling*
by cece July 3rd, 2006 at 4:50 pmI’m with you and Raine–no new books for a long while *sigh*
by cece July 3rd, 2006 at 4:51 pmYeah Cece, I hear you. They just finished one of those in my neck of the woods too. (shaking head) The only new books I’m getting will be ebooks and friend’s books, until Christine Feehan comes out with her next batch.
by Jordan July 3rd, 2006 at 7:55 pmAre there any books you’re looking forward to that will be released soon?
Do the freebies at RWA count? - lol
by Sunny Lyn July 4th, 2006 at 2:17 pmSunny, I’m looking forward to Shiloh’s book that’s due out on July 5th. Other than that, none of the books I want to read come out until the fall. I’m going to be VERY discerning at RWA. I’ve just brought home too many books in the past that I never got around to reading.
by Jordan July 4th, 2006 at 2:48 pmHi Jordan! Just stumbled upon this while googling my name for reviews! I’m so thrilled that my excerpt caught your eye! I’ve read some of your books and am humbled that you are excited by Hunting Diana. Still new to all this. Hunting Diana is only my second book! It just came out a day early, so I’m rushing around letting my readers know. Let me know what you think of it. Doreen
