First off, I wanted to let my readers know that despite all the ramblings on various subjects here on my blog that I AM still writing a lot. I just finished edits on my Blaze. I use the word ‘finished’ loosely because I still have to read through the manuscript one more time to polish it before sending it off to my critique partners. After I get it back from them, I’ll incorporate their changes and send it to Harlequin. What will happen after they receive the manuscript? Your guess is as good as mine. (wg)
I’m also in the process of writing an urban fantasy single title, which I’m really looking forward to working on again. (I took a break to edit.) I have two ebooks that I need to sign contracts on. As soon as I decide which contracts to sign, then that will be taken care of and I’ll have a new book/s coming out toward the end of the year. I’ve also completed a single title paranormal suspense with romantic elements. I’m currently waiting to hear back from the publisher who has the full manuscript. If they pass, I plan to shop it elsewhere. So as you can see, I have been keeping busy. I just haven’t had any releases since March. Hopefully that will change soon.
Now to the reason I’m a geek. *g* I love silly detective stories. (ie Monk) With that in mind, I taped a new show that aired this past Friday called Psych. The premise is that this wastrel guy has a remarkable memory for detail. He developed this skill by playing a strangely tormented game with his dad, who’s played by Corbin Bernsen. He can walk into any location and at one glance tell you how many people are wearing hats, what the logos are, if there’s anything special about their clothes, etc. Anyway, he makes a habit out of solving crimes by watching the news. He phones in tips and collects the rewards. When he solves the latest crime, the police call him in because they believe he’s a prime suspect in a major theft. They ask him for a plausible explanation for his abilities and he knows he doesn’t have one, so he claims to be psychic.
I instantly loved this show. It’s silly, but it’s also cute and has a lot of heart. The feel is a lot like Monk. There’s a sense of innocence about it that kept me smiling through the hour and a half premiere. If you like Monk, Charlie Chan, Columbo and shows like that you may want to check this one out.
As an aside, my niece turns 16 today. I remember sixteen. Sigh. I also remember changing her diapers. Big sigh. Happy Birthday, baby. Hold onto 16 as long as you can. We love you. ![]()

HI! PSYCH sounds cool–what night is it on??
by Maddie July 10th, 2006 at 8:53 amMaddie, The show’s really cute and airs Friday evenings on the USA network.
by Jordan July 10th, 2006 at 9:03 amOooh! Must check out Psych. I love Monk. And Columbo.
by Charli July 10th, 2006 at 10:20 amI’ll look out for Psych! Sounds great. My husband and I really enjoy Monk. We purchased the DVD last year. I must check to see if there are more Monk DVDs available.
by Shelley July 10th, 2006 at 1:01 pmCharli, I think you’ll like it.
by Jordan July 10th, 2006 at 1:51 pmShelley, If you like Monk that much, then I think you’ll like Psych. It has the same ‘feel’.
by Jordan July 10th, 2006 at 1:52 pmI’d been looking forward to seeing “Psych” since USA network started their bombardment of commercials a couple months ago. I loved the premiere, too. It blends the silly with a good mystery and the lead character is quite a charmer.
“Psych” and “Saved” are my two newest glom-onto favorites this summer.
by Laure July 10th, 2006 at 3:39 pmLaure, Oh, I’m so glad you caught it. They’re repeating the episode two more times this week. I cracked up when the friend ran out of the room to throw up. *ggg* I haven’t caught Saved yet, but I’ve heard great things about it. I tend to watch the Closer, Stargate Atlantis, Monk, Hex, and now Psych. I’m also going to check out Eureka because it looks interesting.
by Jordan July 10th, 2006 at 3:47 pmPsych is a HOOT! Even my kids love it!
Hey my BBF is 37 today =)
by Cece July 10th, 2006 at 6:00 pmPS if you have OnDemand, you can find the premiere there too!
by Cece July 10th, 2006 at 6:01 pmCece, It was great, wasn’t it? Happy Birthday to your BBF.
by Jordan July 10th, 2006 at 8:21 pmI saw part of that premiere, lol. It WAS interesting. But I do love Monk, Columbo, etc., so it was a natural for me. Cute premise.
by raine July 10th, 2006 at 11:57 pmGood to hear you’re writing. *g* Wow! You sure have lots of books coming up. Hehehe! As for TV shows, TV networks would go bankrupcy if it were for me. By the time I get off work, get home and do my things and writing, it’s almost midnight. All I can do is either watch an old re-run or read a book.
by Silma July 11th, 2006 at 6:23 amRaine, I hope the next episode is as cute as the first.
by Jordan July 11th, 2006 at 9:49 amSilma, If I didn’t have a cable box that tapes two shows at once I’d never get so see anything. I’m so far behind in my viewing that I actually have episodes of Supernatural to watch. :-/
by Jordan July 11th, 2006 at 9:50 amThere are so many TV shows I haven’t seen that sound great. Monk is one of them. Psych also sounds wonderful. I’ll have to remember to record both shows (LOVE our DVR!). I always enjoyed Charlie Chan and Columbo, as well as The Thin Man movies with Powell and Loy.
by Daisy Dexter Dobbs July 11th, 2006 at 10:08 amOh *# I forgot all about Psych! I’ve been wanting to watch that one - it has Dulle Hill from West Wing in it. Damn! Oh well, at least I just missed the first episode. The one that explains everything …
by Bailey Stewart July 11th, 2006 at 1:39 pmDaisy, You’ll like it. Powell and Loy were great.
by Jordan July 11th, 2006 at 3:26 pmBailey, They’re repeating it this whole week and I think you can watch the first episode online. Just follow the link I put up.
