I’m making a list of everything that I have to pack and praying that I get it all in one suitcase. You’d think by the way my nerves are jumping in my stomach that I’d never gone on a trip before.
Sigh.
This brings up something that I’ve discovered since I started writing full-time. I used to be a very social person in high school and college. Admittedly, I can be a chatterbox. This was a very good trait to have during my fourteen years as a flight attendant. With the change in job, came a big change in personality. I’m no longer a ’social butterfly’. I don’t like crowds. I don’t like being away from home and my dh. I am not good at small talk and my comfort zone is the size of a thimble. If you knew me before and after, you wouldn’t believe that I am the same person. I think the change comes from living much of my life inside of my head and working in solitude. It makes what was once easy (tackling social events), quite difficult.
Since I won’t be blogging this week, I thought it would be cool to run a contest. I realize these two ebooks are old (2003), but the paperback versions are new.
If you’d like a chance to win a copy of SOMEWHERE IN TIME or EXODUS, leave me a comment in my blog telling me why you want a particular book. I’ll have dh draw two names on Aug. 2nd in honor of my dad’s birthday. Good luck. ![]()

I know how that is. Me pre-puberty and post-puberty is vastly different–beyond the growth of boobs that is, though I’m still really short. LOL.
Uhm, is not yet having read the books a good reason? I think it is, so Jordan’s DH, pick me! *g*
by May July 24th, 2006 at 2:47 pmI know what you mean, Jordan. I’m still pretty social, but then I haven’t been lucky enough to work full time. But I find that I’m tired from living out full bodied life events for several people at a time inside my head, so I’m sometimes more quiet than normal in ‘real’ life.
by Tina Gerow July 25th, 2006 at 8:30 amHmm, I have Somewhere in Time if you’re talking the one where he went back in time. Never read Exodus, but from the Amazon write up - it sounds really interesting. I’ll throw my hat in for that one.
Hi, Jordan. Have a wonderful time at nationals. I’m ditching this year in favor of writing. Here I am being the hermit! I know what you mean about personality change. I guess it comes with the territory for some of us? Have fun!
by Cheyenne McCray July 26th, 2006 at 6:20 amHope you have a great time!
I’d love to read Exodus.
by Nicole July 26th, 2006 at 5:51 pmI would love to win Exodus. A friend recently recommended you to me. She knows I love paranormal romance and from what I have read your books sound really good. i would love to try one. I can sympathize with your situation as well. now that I am the mother of a toddler and am pregnant with a baby girl who is due in October my social skills have gotten rather rusty as well. i will keep my fingers crossed.
by Cherie Japp July 27th, 2006 at 1:58 pmI would love to win a copy of EXODUS because I enjoy books with strong willed characters.
by Maureen July 28th, 2006 at 10:36 amI would love to be in the running for Somewhere in time. Sad to say I have not read any of your work yet and from the excerpt I read, your story sounds like a very well-done time travel.
by Cheryl S. July 29th, 2006 at 10:37 amHope you have lots of fun at the conference and come back with all sorts of industry info.
by Charlene July 30th, 2006 at 5:39 amYou know I adore you Jordan. I just bought the rest of your Atlantean series so if I was going in for a drawing, it’d have to be for Somewhere in Time. I haven’t read that one yet.
hehehe.
I hope Nationals is a success for you. I’m sure you’re going to have a fantastic time. Just be yourself and you’ll do great. I can’t wait to hear all the gossip and stories you’ll have to share.
by Shannon July 31st, 2006 at 9:41 amOkay, I’ve entered everyone but Chey into the contest. I’ll announce the winners on Wednesday. Good Luck!!! And Chey, I almost wish I would’ve stayed home to write since I have so much to do.
by Jordan July 31st, 2006 at 3:19 pmBecause I’ve never read one? *blush*
I’ve always been shy but now I’m downright anti-social. See you in Dallas
*snicker*
by Cece August 1st, 2006 at 8:50 amCece, *ggg* I’ve entered you.
I probably won’t be going to Dallas next year. I’ve decided to hit smaller conferences instead. :-/
by Jordan August 1st, 2006 at 11:01 amLOL thanks hon….I was sorta kinda joking about the Dallas thing, though I probably will go.
by Cece August 1st, 2006 at 2:14 pmCece, I’d love to meet you.
by Jordan August 1st, 2006 at 3:09 pmWho are you, and what have you done with my sister? LOL I do know what you mean though, we do keep changing, with our job situations and other social changes. Having a kid will also make you a different person! I still know chatty Cathy is under there somewhere!
