I’ve been thinking about my upcoming night at the observatory and wishing once again that we were much further along in space travel. I know much of these dreams are due to sci-fi TV shows, but wouldn’t it be cool to walk through a Stargate onto another habitable planet or fly in a ship the size of the ‘new’ Enterprise? Or even look through a telescope and spot aliens? (The latter would not be allowed to be like the aliens from the movies ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’, ‘Stargate (the movie and TV show)’, ‘Independence Day’, ‘Predator’ or ‘Aliens’. *ggg* There are rules to follow.
Anyway, I think it would be pretty cool.
I finished typing in the changes to Saber-tooth. I’m going to read through it one more time and write a brief epilogue, then it’s off to my editor. It will be gone today. Yah!
I started reading 30 Days of Night by Steve Niles, et al. Vanessa recommended it to me. So far I’m really digging it, but it’s not for the squeamish. What’s everyone reading?
August 17th, 2006

Like you, I’m wrapping up the book (and shouldn’t even be here) but when I’m done, I’m taking off 10 days! I’m going to start reading by finishing Vanish by Tess Garritson, then read Killing Floor by Lee Child. ohboy
by Jo Leigh August 17th, 2006 at 12:33 pmJo, Ten days sound nice. I actually have to do just the opposite. I have to kick it into high gear and get another book finished ASAP. Enjoy your reading time. I have Killing Floor in my TBR pile.
by Jordan August 17th, 2006 at 1:29 pmI’m reading Fistful of Charms by Kim Harrison, then next up is Cheyenne’s Seduced by Magic…
by Vivi Anna August 17th, 2006 at 5:06 pmI’m reading The Distressing Damsel. Fun! I want space travel, too. Did you ever read Contact? Sigh…
by Charli August 17th, 2006 at 6:58 pmCool Vivi! Let me know what you think.
by Jordan August 17th, 2006 at 10:17 pmCharli, I didn’t read the book, but I did see the movie. (I’m sure it paled in comparison.) I did love it though. It gave me one of my favorite sayings. “Do you think there’s anything out there?” “Well if not, it seems like an awful waste of space.” Love it.
by Jordan August 17th, 2006 at 10:19 pmThe last book I finished was Jon Courtenay Grimwood’s Pashazade–this goes under what I call weird fiction, but I really like his work. I’m in the midst of Christopher Golden’s Of Saints And Shadows as well.
by May August 18th, 2006 at 7:28 amI’m with you. Wish we were at that point in technological advances, too!
by Cheyenne McCray August 18th, 2006 at 7:44 amMay, I’ll have to check them out.
by Jordan August 18th, 2006 at 10:03 amChey, You and me both. :-/
by Jordan August 18th, 2006 at 10:03 amI’m reading Something Borrowed (bk. 1) and Something Blue (bk. 2) by Emily? Giffen. (I forget her first name.) They’re really good! I hafta admit, I’ve been a little sick of the chick-lit first-person attitude-y thing for a while, but these books are really compelling. I could hardly put Something Borrowed down last night at 2 am, though I was falling asleep sitting up.
by Catherine Morris August 18th, 2006 at 10:36 amWow Catherine, that is the sign of a good book.
by Jordan August 18th, 2006 at 12:07 pmJordan, so glad you’re enjoying 30 Days of Nights. I’ve been making slow progress with it, because I refuse to read it at night. lol. And I’ve been a bit busy/stressed in the daytime, so I actually starting reading some romances (2 of Carol Jewel’s books: Lord Ruin, and The Spare. Love them both. Lots of emotion and sexual tension. Her heroes remind me of Anne Stuart’s heroes). Anywho, I do want to jump back into 30 Days, Steve Niles has a fangirl in me.
by jaye August 19th, 2006 at 8:14 amJaye, I’ve been reading romantica ebooks at night on my reader, but before I go to bed I tend to read some of 30 Days of Night. Steve Niles has definitely found a fan in me.
