Finished the Manuscript

My sister’s birthday was yesterday. I meant to wish her a Happy Birthday on the blog, but I spaced. 🙁 Happy Belated Birthday. Blush. At least I remembered to call.

I wrote another twenty pages today. The manuscript came up a little short (ie ten pages), but it’s officially done. That loud sound is me collapsing on my desk. I plan to tweak a few more things tomorrow. Like a kid with a loose tooth, I just can’t let those ten pages go. *ggg* Yes, I’m that anal.

I must say Fast Draft has been an interesting experience. I’ll write more on this subject, when I can actually ‘see’ the screen. Right now, my contact lenses are cemented to my eyeballs and I believe it will take C4 to get them out. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Catch you sometime tomorrow. I mean today. Sigh. Thud.

  1. Jay Lake said something about how being forced to churn out a lot of words quickly helps him block the internal editor. Do you think that’s been the case with Fast Draft?

  2. Congratulations on the first draft. I love the feeling of getting it all down on paper. What a relief!

    Go rest…

  3. Congrats Jordan! Now get some rest!

May, yes, FD does help you turn off the internal editor. Unforutnately I’m having to stop, get my partial polished, now that it’s written, write the synopsis and send it off to my editor. Once I do that, I plan to jump right back into FD. I hope to by doing so with the rest of this novel…I’ll permanently learn how to turn off my internal editor until I write the last page of my manuscript.

  4. Woo-hoo!! Great job! You amaze and inspire me. 🙂

  5. Way to go!

  6. Way to go! That internal editor has been smacked into next year. *g*

  7. May, That certainly was the case for the first five days. After that, I had to make an effort to tune it out. I did, which is how I managed to keep writing.

  8. Thanks HelenKay! I’m definitely wiped. *g* It didn’t help that afterwards I was too tired to go to sleep and ended up reading the entire Kitty and the Midnight Hour book. Great stuff, btw. 🙂

  9. Thanks Patrice. 🙂

  10. Thank Catherine! 🙂 I hope you’re feeling better now.

  11. Ursula, Thanks! 🙂

  12. LOL Charli! I wish! 😀 That bitch has been snapping at my heels the whole time. *ggg*

  13. Hey, Jordan! congrats. I’m going to have to try the fast draft idea, I think.

although I think I’m going to give myself a chance to get used to writing with a plot outline first. 😉

  14. Congratulations, Jordan!
