Gearing up for Japan

I only managed to get five pages written yesterday, but I’ll take them. I have about fifty pages to go to finish the book. I’m going to shoot for twenty pages today. More if I can bleed them out. I’ll have to see how it’s going.

I hit twenty pages today. I have about thirty to go on the book. I thought about pushing forward, but my brain hurts. I’ll try to get it done tomorrow. We’ll see how it goes.

Dh and I are making strides in preparing for our upcoming trip to Japan. Did some last minute shopping last night. The language is going okay for me. Better for him. He’s learned how to write the first part of Japanese. He’s moving onto the second. Not sure he’ll make the third and hardest before we fly out. I’m really proud of him for tackling the writing. I wasn’t about to go there.

I don’t have any plans for today other than work. I am excited about a book/ARC that arrived in the mail yesterday. It’s SO hard not to read it, but I’m trying to hold off. What book am I talking about? Vicki Pettersson’s ‘The Scent of Shadows’. I think I’ll use it as a reward for making my page count. Eat your hearts out. 😛

  1. *eating heart out* Good progress, Jordan! I hit 11 pages and naptime ended, sob. More to come!

  2. Ooh, yes, I’m jealous! Looks like a great new series. 🙂

  3. Charli, That’s great progress. I just hit the twenty page mark and I’m calling it a night. I’m going to go read. *g* I have about twenty-five to thirty pages to go and then I’m done with a VERY rough draft. I may push it tomorrow and see if I can finish her up. If I do, I’ll be the one collapsed on the couch come Monday. *ggg*

  4. Patrice, Vicki’s book has sure started off with a bang. I’m really starting to get into it. Can’t wait to read more. Speaking of which, I’m off to do that now. 😀

  5. I’ve been pushing people to buy debut books for some time, and westofmars blogspot has announced “debut a debut: embrace a new author” week. Would *Scent of Shadows* qualify?

  6. Camille, Yes, it would. 🙂 I believe this is Vicki’s first book.

  7. You Evil Person! Tagging me wasn’t enough for you? Grrrr….

  8. Jordan…tease! 🙂

  9. Jordan – sounds like you’re making great progress, and not just on the book. I’ve always wanted to be good at learning other languages. But it just hasn’t ever worked out well. I’ve heard Japanese is really hard to learn, and I’m totally impressed that you’re learning it while churning out a book like you have been! 🙂

  10. May, This is a first. Having one that you don’t. 😛

  11. Patrice, I can’t help myself. 😉

  12. Tina, I refused to go to Japan and not be able to speak any of the language. It’s hard, but to be honest, it doesn’t seem any harder than any other language. I’m quite enjoying it. It’s a nice way to speed up the walk. 🙂

  13. Jordan your trip sounds so exciting!

And I love getting ARCs. I have a special place on my bookshelf for my ARC collection. It’s an addiction *g*

  14. Jaci, I can’t wait to go. I have something similar in my house…to go along with my ever-growing paperback collection. *ggg*
