Went For a Walk

I mentioned that I’ve been walking at least four days a week, every week (only missed one day and that was last week). I haven’t noticed any kind of weight loss. Darn it. But I have noticed an overall improvement in my moods. I’m not saying that I’m chipper all the time (I’m not.), but I have definitely been feeling much more mentally stable. By that I mean, things that would normally bug me haven’t been. For that alone, I think the walking gig is worth it. 🙂

I managed to wrestle in another fifteen pages/3+K today. I made my goal of reaching page 250. YAH!!! The progress is definitely slowing as I near the end. I spent half the evening looking up occult information. Didn’t find exactly what I was looking for, but I did manage to get a few things together in order to write an invocation scene. I didn’t want it to be completely accurate. I do that on purpose. I think it’s too easy for people to dabble and I wouldn’t want to be responsible for anyone dabbling with stuff they don’t understand.

Still reeling over the news that Van Halen may be getting back together. OMG! Hell has frozen over. You have to understand something about me. When they broke up, I cried. Yes, you read that correctly. I CRIED. I was a teenager and took it VERY hard. *g* I can even tell you where I was, when it happened. For me, there was never a Van Halen after Dave left. Let the laughter begin now. Anyhoo, it’s not official yet, but it looks like it’s going forward. Still can’t believe after all these years, it’s finally going to happen.

Have you ever had a band breakup that you were heartbroken about?

  1. Interesting about VH! Are they touring? I’ve been devastated over many a band splitting, but most of them got back together LOL Congrats on the progress! Can you do some of mine? 😉

  2. Holy crap! Seriously? They are getting back together? Who will sing? David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar? I’m so psyched! I too was devastated when they broke up. Very sad days. I was sad when Motley Crue broke up also. I could go on and on, but I’ll spare you my devastation of the breakup of 80s bands LOL

Congrats on meeting your page count! WTG!!!! Some days it’s easier than others, huh? But it’s a good feeling when you meet a goal, isn’t it?

  3. I walk every night for twenty minutes. On top of the exercise angle, it seems plot and scene ideas always work themselves out in my mind while Im walking. After reading your take on Van Halen getting back together, I tried to think of a band that did better apart. I got nothin. 🙂

  4. What? Diamond Dave and Van Halen reunite?

Good on your pages and walking both! We’re back to our daily hikes now that the weather has stopped being insane and dangerous, and it really helps. It’s a mood booster, a stress reliever, and good for writer’s butt, too. *ggg*

  5. Wow! Didn’t know that about VH – cool if it really happens. The one I cried over was Journey. It’s just not the same without Steve Perry! 🙁

Great on the walking and the WIP progress!

  6. I love to walk and quite often use the time to brainstorm plot points etc. If I’m ever stuck, I go for a walk and usually arrive back at home knowing what I need to do to yank the “writing plug”. Of course, it helps that we have a small dog who loves going for walks. We walk even if there are times when we don’t feel like it! I haven’t noticed any weight loss either but it clears the mental cobwebs.

When Splitz Enz (a New Zealand band) broke up the entire nation went into mourning. Luckily, some of the band reformed into Crowded House. They broke up but they’re getting back together again for a couple of concerts. Happy days 🙂

  7. I do the exercise bike for 40 minutes daily and I get so much plotting done because it’s totally mindless and I can just let my brain wander around and untie plot knots.

And I’m with you on VH with Dave! I remember having a poster on my wall with DLR in chains, shirtless, on his knees with leather pants on. Wow!

  8. Saskia, Yes, they plan to tour. First smaller arenas around the US, then larger ones. When they hit the bigger venues, they plan to go to the UK. 🙂

  9. Anne, Thanks! 🙂 I’d be right there with you on the 80’s bands. As to your question, the ‘original’ Van Halen. Like I said, there was only one VH in my mind. 😀 *g*

  10. Bernard, Yep, I’ve been doing a little of that once I finish my Japanese lesson on the walk. As for a band, the Police are the only ones I can think of and they’re supposedly getting back together for a few gigs in the fall. 🙂

  11. Charli, It looks like it’s going to happen. I’m surprised you guys can’t hear Panama cranking from here. *ggg* Yep, the walks are definitely helping all the way around. 🙂

  12. Tina, I agree, without Steve Perry there is no Journey. :-/ Thanks!

  13. Shelley, Yes, there is something about being out in the fresh air. 🙂 Glad the band is reforming or at least playing again.

  14. Lauren, My friend and I had that poster. It hung above the bed. We also had the one where Dave was standing in a dressing room, wearing ass-less chaps, while he was staring in a mirror. (This was long before Prince tried it.) LOVED those posters. Wish I still had them. Though I don’t think dh would appreciate the aesthetic as much as I would. *ggg*

  15. No, never cried over a band breakup. But I agree with you ladies–Steve Perry could sing to me forever…

    Van Halen back together? JUMP!!!

lol, sorry! Yes, David Lee ROCKED.

  16. Ok, I have no idea what just happened there. Sorry, Jordan!

  17. Lol, I’m hopeless when it comes to popular muscic. The only band names I remember are the Beatles and Abba. And the Rolling Stones, because one of the girls whom I gave extra lessons in English had a wallpaper. There seems to be a popular German one, I vaguely recall to have heard something in the news about some Tokyo Hotel or so. Weird name for a band.

  18. Ohmigod, probably Simon and Garfunkle? DON’T LAUGH! I was a folkie in my teen years, now I enjoy lots more..Fleetwood mac breakup was not good either..

WALKING: IT took me 3-4 months to lose 30 whole pounds by walking and following a low fat food plan.I walked a FULL HOUR every day, 6 days a week.if I cut back o the #of days, wt. loss slowed, but after 3 months even my stomach got flat as the fat melted away.. no sit ups.. I am WORKING HARD TO GET TO THIS LEVEL AGAIN cause it really worked! Good luck!

  19. Raine, I know. I’m so excited. More so than I really should be. *ggg* Don’t worry about the glitch. Not sure what’s happening there. Someone had the same thing happen yesterday. It might be on my end. :-/

  20. Gabriele, Don’t worry about it. It’s not like Van Halen is popular music anymore. *ggg* They were big in the late seventies and all through the eighties.(I caught them in the eighties.)

  21. Hey Maddie, A band is a band. I didn’t say it had to be a specific time period. *ggg* Glad to hear that about the walking. I guess it’ll take me at least twice that long since I’m only walking about thirty minutes or so four to five days a week. I’d like to make it a steady five before the summer heat returns. 🙂 (Notice I didn’t mention the diet.) *g*
