Halfway There

I’ve finally reached the halfway point with the urban fantasy edits. At this stage, I have no idea if the book is worth a damn. I’m just too close to tell. This tends to happen with every book I write. Though I must say that this book has been the hardest to date. I thought I struggled with Gothic Passions, my historical vampire book, but it was nothing compared to this urban fantasy. :-O

It’s almost the end of March. Vroom. Where has the year gone? Seriously. I think I’m stuck back in Jan. Anyone else feeling that way?

I’m a bit bummed that I haven’t had time to read lately. I made pretty good reading progress (for me) in Jan. and Feb. (I read several books at the same time because I’m a mood reader.). Now things have slowed down. That happens every time the writing/editing increases. Someday I may be able to come up with some sort of balance, but until then I’ll be stuck drooling over the books on my shelf. *ggg*

Speaking of books, there are a few coming out soon that I’m looking forward to: Into the Darkness by Delilah Devlin, The Demon You Know by Christine Warren, Virtually His by Gennita Low, Hunters: Heart and Soul by Shiloh Walker, Claimed by Shadow by Karen Chance, Wild Thing Anthology, Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews and Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian. I still have to pick up Heart-shaped Box by Joe Hill and Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead. And don’t get me started about how much I’m coveting Kolchak: The Night Stalker Casebook by Christopher Golden et al. Yes, I was a HUGE Night Stalker fan. It and Night Gallery used to scare the crap out of me as a kid. *g*

What’s coming out that you’re looking forward to in the near future? (Well other than Pirates.;)

  1. Rachel Vincent’s Stray. Amie Stuart’s Built. Shanna Swendson’s Damsel Under Stress…wait, I’ve this one coming already. Melissa Marr’s Wicked Lovely. Doesn’t Jaci have another release too?

  2. Oh yes, I forgot about Wicked Lovely. Not sure about Jaci. Girl, you get so many freebie books. Must be nice. *g* ;)

  3. The Scarlet Lion, by Elizabeth Chadwick, the second part of her ‘novelised biography’ of William Marshal. Bernard Cornwell should have another of his Saxon series out in autumn. And Rebecca Gable’s final installment of the Waringham Saga is due in September.

  4. I keep a list with me. Some of the books I’m waiting for are:
Green Mill Murder by Kerry Greenwood
    Witch Hunt by Shirley Damsgaard
For a Few Demons More by Kim Harrison
Kitty Takes a Holiday by Carrie Vaughn
    and
Night Lost by Lynn Viehl :o)
Oh and can’t forget July when the final Harry Potter book and the next movie Both come out. Yeah!

  5. Jaci’s got a new release coming, Wild Wicked and Wanton. I have an ARC. : D

  6. Gabriele, My list would grow a LOT if I looked beyond June. Lora Leigh is coming up, Jeaniene Frost, Patricia Briggs anthology, Angela Knight…

  7. Ann, I can’t believe I forgot about Lynn’s new book. DOH!!! I love the Kitty novels. I have the second book in my TBR pile. So many good books.

  8. Charli, Cool!

  9. Your fellow Tor author Tobias S. Buckell’s second novel, Ragamuffin.

  10. Camille, I’ll have to look that one up. :)

  11. I refuse, just REFUSE to make a list, lol. I’ve got my TBR pile down to single digits, and intend to keep it that way (yeah, right). And Night Gallery was FABULOUS! :-)

  12. Raine, Man, you are good. Single digits? I bow before you, oh goddess of the TBR pile. How did you do it? *g* Night Gallery had some scary ones.

  13. My favorite Night Gallery one was about two brothers who stay the night in an old mansion, haunted by an ax murderer. It was based on a Robert E. Howard short story. It was the most gruesome TV episode done to that time, because people kept showing up with their skulls split open, walking around. Just the kind of material for sweet dreams. :)

  14. I’m trying to be nice, I am, but I have to share: Night Lost is better than the previous Darkyn books. Trust me on this one.

  15. Thanks May…and thanks for teasing us about Night Lost too LOL I’m looking forward to that one. The next Jami Alden book (and no not Built). I loved Delicious and there’s an excerpt for another in the back of HO (Yeah i read it after I did my copy edits). Holly Black’s Ironside *squee*,

  16. Bernard, I only vaguely remember that episode, but I’m sure I watched it. *ggg* The one that scared the crap out of me was an episode that was a bit like Dorian Gray. This guy was ‘behaving badly’ and every time he needed to escape he’d jump into a painting. Well on the last night, he killed somebody (if I remember correctly) and then ran into the gallery. It was dark, but he’d memorized the location of the picture. Only one problem, they rearranged the paintings and he jumped into one depicting hell. Very creepy.

  17. May, Yeah right. *ggg* I’ll definitely grab it.

  18. Amie, I’ll have to look that book up too.

  19. Right now my TBR pile is so high, I can’t afford to buy another book. Although Borders is having a 25% discount coupons next weekend. Hm… Hehehe!

  20. Tempest, LOL!

  21. I screwed up, Jordan, and got my TV horror mixed up. :) The episode I mentioned was a Boris Karloff’s Thriller episode called “Pidgeons from Hell”. I do remember the Night Gallery episode you mentioned. He thought he was jumping into a fishing scene, but they had changed paintings at the gallery. He jumped into a Holocaust painting of torture I think.

  22. Bernard, Yep, that’s the one. :D Scared me silly. I think I watched the Boris Karloff one. I loved him. He was great. Him and Vincent Price were scary without trying. *ggg*

  23. I have to say, Jordan, for someone who says she reads slow, reads a lot! LOL. You are so beyond me. You should LOVE Richelle’s SUCCUBUS BLUES. I was bowled over by it when I read it for quote. I really went crazy for it. I just bought my first Genita Low book, and am looking forward to it.

  24. Thanks Chey! I planned to pick up Succubus Blues. Hear great things about it. :)
