I’m down to the last seventy pages of the urban fantasy. I’m going to try to edit at least half of that today. It will be done this week. YAH!!! The sound you hear after that will be me collapsing.
Watched Blood Ties last night. They keep teasing me with glimpses of a half-naked Henry. Sigh. Drool. Next week’s episode is promising more of the same.
Since I plan to edit for the day, I thought I’d open the blog up to questions. If you have any questions about writing/publishing or whatever, fire away. ![]()

Hey a reminder–the May RT is the Urban Fantasy one. Oh and I did answer your question but it probably sucked *ggg*
by amie April 2nd, 2007 at 6:31 pmGo Jordan! And thanks for distracting, er, inspiring me with Henry. *g*
Question: what do you do to refill the well, recharge your creative batteries, etc?
by Charli April 2nd, 2007 at 7:01 pmLori Perkins paints a pretty demanding picture after a manuscript is picked up and sold. What has your experience been between selling a new project, and the work being published? Remember, you asked for questions.
by BernardL April 2nd, 2007 at 7:37 pmAmie, I saw that. Thank you for answering the question. It didn’t suck. I just got my RT tonight. The urban fantasy section is great. I can’t wait to read through it…but first I have more edits to do. Sigh.
by Jordan April 2nd, 2007 at 8:16 pmCharli, *ggg* Any time.
I love to go to the movies. For some reason, I find them extremely relaxing and inspirational. My mind shuts off and I just escape.
by Jordan April 2nd, 2007 at 8:17 pmBernard, Great question. And the answer isn’t a simple one because it varies from publisher to publisher. Sometimes edits are light and sometimes you’re rewriting sections of the book. The latter are obviously the hardest. (This does not include copy edits.) On top of all that, you have to think about where you’re going to advertise your book. So many magazines need the information months in advance that you find yourself doing everything at once (ie promotion, editing, writing your next book, etc.). Here’s another personal example. I’ve rewritten the Blaze that I wrote three times already and I still haven’t sold the book. If I do manage to make a sale, there will be another round of edits (at least one, probably more), before the book will be ready for publication.
by Jordan April 2nd, 2007 at 8:25 pmHooray on nearing the end of the urban fantasy!
by Julia Templeton April 2nd, 2007 at 9:55 pmWoo-hoo!!!!
Congratulations on being on the verge of that collapse! (ggg)
by raine April 2nd, 2007 at 10:16 pmThanks Julie.
Forty more pages to go.
by Jordan April 2nd, 2007 at 10:36 pmThanks Raine. You will hear the crash. *ggg*
by Jordan April 2nd, 2007 at 10:36 pmGo Jordan! (that’s all I have to say because I want to read this book)
by May April 3rd, 2007 at 7:49 amThanks May! I stayed up late and finished the first round of edits last night.
by Jordan April 3rd, 2007 at 9:34 amHehehe! So I’m not the only one hook on “Blood Ties,” eh?
by Tempest Knight April 3rd, 2007 at 10:54 amThanks, Jordan, it helps to prepare in case the impossible happens.
by BernardL April 3rd, 2007 at 11:07 amLOL! Nope, Tempest, you are not. (wg)
by Jordan April 3rd, 2007 at 11:57 amBernard, You’re welcome. And it’s not impossible. All you have to do is keep submitting your work.
by Jordan April 3rd, 2007 at 11:57 amMy biggest complaint to date about Blood Ties is that they only show Henry HALF naked. WTF?! Throw us a bone here, Lifetime!
Um, and glad you finished your edits! *rubs hands together, checks email* I’m ready for my Ghost fix now…;)
by Jeaniene April 3rd, 2007 at 12:08 pmJeaniene, Yes, I agree. It’s always the wrong half. *ggg* I’m typing, I’m typing. You should see a package in your inbox on Friday. (wg)
