I grabbed this link off Beth Ciotta’s blog. I found it very timely. JA describes exactly how I’ve been feeling over the last year with perfect clarity. It’s not that I’m not grateful for the good things coming my way. I am. I’ve worked damn hard for them and taken big risks professionally. I know how fortunate I’ve been overall, even with the publishing crap I’ve gone through over the past couple of years. It’s just the nature of the business. Either you can hang with that or you can’t. If you can’t, then it may be time to find a new profession/dream. Sometimes that’s the hardest decision of all.

I worked through to that conclusion before I sold, and I’m glad I did. Happiness is in the journey, the writing, the process. Otherwise it’s always future, never now. And always in somebody else’s control, not yours. Here’s to happily living the dream!

Raising a glass to living the dream!

by BernardL April 20th, 2007 at 6:20 amI get ya! It was an interesting end of/beginning of year for me.. after all was said and done, I returned to the HEART of writing, for me it is NON FICTION. Putting aside what was such a struggle to return to my true heart’s desire has been awesome.I am in some writing classes, have queries out, have sold, will sell MORE, and am enjoying my writing career again! I love to READ fiction but I love to WRITE non. We HAVE TO take risks or, we “risk” living an inauthentic, boring, sub-par life! Risks OFTEN turn into REWARDS.. so, I say “TAKE A LEAP.”
by Maddie April 20th, 2007 at 7:58 amRaine, LOL! Good one. *g*
by Jordan April 20th, 2007 at 11:49 amBernard, Beth is always good about finding the positive in every situation. As for stress, isn’t that the case in every job?
by Jordan April 20th, 2007 at 11:50 amBailey, Raising a glass with you.
