Chicken With Its Head Cut Off

I’m trying to figure out what I need to take for RT and type in the edits that I finished last night. I’ve ran the errands that I needed. Hopefully I haven’t forgotten anything. I get so nervous before I leave for a conference. I have no idea why. I mean realistically I could sit in my room for the entire time and no one, but my friends would take issue with that. Yet here I am feeling anxious. And not in a ‘this is going to be fun’ kind of way. I think this stems from the fact that I spend so many hours in my house alone, writing my books. I used to be really good with social situations. Nowadays, not so much. It takes work to socialize and not come off inept or like a total bitch. I have no doubt I will enjoy myself at the Romantic Times Convention once I get there. It’s the forcing myself to get there part that’s hard. Have a nice week. I’ll report back Monday on what I learned. 🙂

  1. No matter where we’re headed, no matter how much we look forward to it, if it ain’t taking place in our own home, there will be some small amount of anxiety involved. The anxiety escalates in direct proportion to how far away from our front door we have to go, and how many strangers we have to interact with when we get there. 🙂

  2. Bernard, This is so true. 🙂

  3. Sadly, I think the days when travel was just fun are over. Now it means stress. But I bet you’ll have a terrific time at RT and I’ll be watching for your in-depth reports when you return!

  4. Thanks Charli. 🙂

  5. I’m exactly the same. You’ll be fine when you get there, and we’ll be eager to hear all about it. Have fun!

  6. Saskia, I’m heading out now. See you all when I get back. 🙂
