I’ve been looking at all the photos around Blogoland. It seems like everyone had a good time this past weekend in Dallas. Glad to hear it. I still stand by my thoughts on the changes that RWA made. I think in the end it’ll be for the best.
I’m taking notes today. Or should I say, still taking notes for the next Tor book/s. I found that when I take a ton of notes before I start writing, the book will flow much faster and easier once I do get started. My notes are short. They tend to be a paragraph or less. Just long enough for me to determine what needs to happen. Once I finish with them all, I write them onto index cards and arrange them. It may not work for everyone, but it’s been extremely helpful to me.
I want to send birthday wishes out to my ex, G. We dated for close to seven years and are still friends. I hope that you have a very happy day and many, many more to come. Best wishes. ![]()

You go with your notes! I’m braiding three plot lines together. Chocolate, STAT.
I do think RWA is moving in the right direction. Overall I think these changes are good for the membership. And dang, how hard is it to do right by 9,500 people with different needs? It really looks to me like epublishing is being looked at in a different light, unlike years past. I know it may seem like a step back, but really, this means more epubbed authors and their books are PAN and Rita eligible, and that’s awesome.
by Charli July 16th, 2007 at 7:33 pmI think your use of notes and cards is a great way to outline your writing. I’m far too careless when I get an idea. I work on vehicles with methodical perseverance; but I write from chaos.
by BernardL July 17th, 2007 at 6:56 amCharli, Thanks!
It’s nearly impossible to make everyone happy. I’d say actually it is impossible. I think the bottom line is that if epubs are going to claim to be in the big leagues and demand N.Y. contracts from their authors, then they have to be prepared to pony-up the money like the other publishers. You can’t have it both ways. Either you’re a small press, in which case you should act accordingly, or you are a force in the industry.
by Jordan July 17th, 2007 at 12:40 pmBernard, LOL! You need to adopt some of that car stradegy into your writing.
by Jordan July 17th, 2007 at 1:30 pmI’ll make a note.
by BernardL July 17th, 2007 at 9:19 pmI’ve also seen the pic of the conference posted in the blogsland. I’m happy to hear everyone had a great time. However, I’m still wary of the RWA, especially with their new policies toward epublishers. For what I’ve heard, even Ellora’s Cave lost its RWA recognition status. It’s all very sad.

by Jordan July 18th, 2007 at 10:42 amTempest, Yes, EC lost its recognition, but again, everyone needs to remember RWA is attempting to lookout for the ‘authors’ not the publishers.
by Jordan July 18th, 2007 at 3:11 pmHappy B-Day G and many more. Tell him it’s time to settle down. LOL
by Mom July 18th, 2007 at 6:48 pmMom, I’m sure he’ll read your well-wishes. Don’t be mean.
by Jordan July 18th, 2007 at 11:21 pmHow cute that your mom posted on your blog! My blog scares mi madre. She said, “Baby, why does everybody have to be half-naked on your blog? Wouldn’t a woman wearing a nice dress and pumps be nice?” “Come ON, Momma!” I said, “I write erotic romance for God’s sake!” “Girl…don’t you use the good Lords’ name in vain!” She said. “Sorry. Yes, ma’am.” I replied, humbly…
by Kimberly July 21st, 2007 at 6:11 amKimberly, LOL! My mom is made of stern stuff. She doesn’t flinch easily. (wg) But you notice, other than on one or two of my book covers, there are no half-naked people in sight. *ggg*
