We just got back from seeing The Bourne Ultimatum. It was definitely an enjoyable flick. Matt Damon does a really good (and convincing) job. It had the same gritty intensity as all the other Bourne movies, but ended with more of a resolution. (There were a few threads left dangling, but nothing major.)
Dh made an observation that unlike Bond movies, where you leave the film on an upbeat, the Bourne films give a satisfying ending, while not quite being happy. If you know what I mean. You don’t leave a Bourne film cheerful.
That said, it was still a great action-packed film filled with what you’ve come to expect from the Bourne movies. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good spy film. Two thumbs up. ![]()

Can’t wait to see this. I’ve watched the trailers about 20 times. And to think when I heard about the first movie I actually said, “Why’d they pick Matt Damon to play Bourne?” He’s perfect in the role.
by Charli August 5th, 2007 at 4:55 amThanks for the review, Jordan. I really liked the first two, and the promos for the third look great. The Bourne movies do have a more satisfying edge to them than the Bond movies.
by BernardL August 5th, 2007 at 8:35 amI am one of those purists who can’t get over how the movies are SO different than the books. I read the Bourne novels as a teenager and loved them. Was to excited to see the movie. Liked the first movie. Saw the second one…and spent the entire time bitching about how Marie was killed! She was a MAJOR character in the novels, and to have her whacked in the second movie just fried my bacon. See? I still can’t talk about it without bitching!
I think I’ll save my fellow theater-goers some grief and not see this one. I’m sure the people in the seats next to me when I watched the second one while angrily muttering throughout wanted to kill me. *wink* I shouldn’t tempt fate twice, right?
by Jeaniene August 5th, 2007 at 1:11 pmCharli, I think Matt Damon is perfect for the role. I must say I did have some reservations when I first heard his name attached to the project, but like you, that changed once I saw the movie. He’s got the perfect ‘blend in’ face. The kind a spy would like.
by Jordan August 5th, 2007 at 6:24 pmBernard, I think you’re going to really like this one. It’s better than the second film and just may be the best of the three.
by Jordan August 5th, 2007 at 6:25 pmJeaniene, I can understand not liking the movies, if you read the books first. There are some things that just change too much. I’m sure the theater goers will thank you.
