A professional writer in the business for over two decades addressed questions regarding the displeasure of readers on MSNs now defunct Writers Cafe. He posted: You write what you feel; and if youre lucky, fifty percent of those reading it will like it, while the other fifty percent will hate it. Every thing else is just fluff. From her readers comments, Ms. Gerritsens writing must not be fluff.
Bernard, That pretty much sums it up. No, Ms. Gerritsen doesn’t write fluff, but I do understand her worries about switching genres. It must be even more stressful, if you’re a NYT Bestseller.
