Hot as Blazes

I know summer is officially over, but someone hasn’t bothered to tell the heat. It’s hot as blazes here. :( I’ve been carrying around a mini-fan with me while we go look at model homes. (For decorating ideas.) Ugh! Enough already!

We probably won’t head to the movies, since we’re both zonked from the heat. We might walk down to Barnes and Noble later to look at interior design books. (Yes, I currently have a bookstore within walking distance of my house. I’ll miss that when we move.) I’m sure once the sun sets the temperature will go down to oh, at least 99! :/

I like warm weather, but extreme heat makes me cranky. And I already have enough people things to be cranky about right now. (wg)

  1. I hate the heat. When my kids moved to Sacramento, I couldn’t believe it. We’ve had nothing but seventies temps all summer with upper fifties to low sixties at night here in the Bay Area, with only a few days in the eighties. It’s funny when my Grandson visits, he shivers unless the temp is in the eighties, he’s so acclimated to the nineties and up in Sacramento. One thing that helps in the heat is popsicles. They cool you off from the inside, no matter what people are hanging around irritating you. :)

  2. Hope the heat eases up. I’d be cranky too, I don’t deal well with it at all anymore. Give me 70 degrees and a cool breeze!

  3. I’m super cranky in the heat too. Not that i’m a big fan of the cold either, but at least you have far more options in terms of warming up then you do with cooling down. At let’s not talk about heat PLUS humidity. ugh.

It’s a trade off, Jordan. Like you, where I live now isn’t nearly as convenient to the amenities as my previous address, but the trade off is being surrounded by nature rather than cars/buildings. I was a die-hard city girl, now, while I’d still like to be a bit more centrally located, I don’t think I could every live in the heart of the city again.

  4. Move to Germany. We have autumn already. :)

  5. Bernard, Those temps sound wonderful. Sigh. The heat is definitely something that takes some getting used to, and even then, there are some temperatures that are just too much. I LOVE popsicles. I knew I was forgetting something at the store. ;)

  6. Charli, You and me both. I’d freeze in 70 degrees, but 78 would be lovely. ;)

  7. Vanessa, Yes, we’ve been getting more and more humidity as of late, which sucks in the desert. Nothing like 115 with 30% humidity. :( I don’t do cold well either, but you’re right about having more clothing options.

I’ll definitely miss the amenities. They’re still there just a little further away. You and I are opposites. I was born and raised in the country and now I live in the ‘city’. (Personally, I think they’re more like suburbs, but that’s not what they’re called around here.;) I miss the wide-open spaces, but I’m married to a city boy, who breaks out in hives at the thought of living out in the middle of nowhere. *ggg*

  8. Gabriele, I hear Germany is very nice. My brother-in-law is from there and my sister lived there for a while. Enjoy that beautiful weather. We’re still rocking 107 degrees and dreaming about autumn here. *g*

  9. It turned into summer again in Seattle too! I can’t believe how warm and humid it has been, rather abnormal for around here. We’re normally down to almost fall temperatures here but I guess we’re having a little bit of Indian Summer. Nothing too outrageously hot like down your way but still warm enough for us Seattlelites! I’m going to miss the rain and the cooler weather here, Virginia is frakking hot all summer and let’s not even talk about the humidity.

  10. Shannon, That’s rare for you guys. As for Virginia, yep, get ready to sweat. ;)
