Round and Round

I decided not to blog yesterday. I knew what day it was and what that day symbolized. Like many of you, I will never forget the pain and loss this country suffered back in 2001. But instead of focusing on the pain, I’d rather remember how the country felt afterwards. Pride was evident and so was the best of humanity. People came together. Business stopped worrying about turning a profit and instead, helped everyone who needed it. I can honestly say that I was never more proud to be an American and never more proud of the American people. You showed your true salt in the weeks following that horrific event.

Yesterday dh and I went to pick out the interiors for our house. I have to admit it was fun, even though it was a little overwhelming. I hope once they get everything into the house that it looks good. It’s always so hard to tell from small samples.

Today is a dear friend of mine’s 49th birthday. I’ve known him for a lot of years. I can’t believe he’s celebrating the cusp b-day today, but I wish him joy. Happy Birthday, M! May you continue to make movies for years and years to come. :)

Lot of changes happening on my end. I’m switching over to editor Heather Osborn at Tor. The lovely Anna Genoese took good care of me throughout my first book. Thank you, Anna!!! Speaking of Heather, she is answering all your Tor questions at her blog. So rush over there, if you want to learn more about Tor. :) Also, I have a new agent. I’m beyond thrilled to announce that my new agent is Ginger Clark with Curtis Brown. Their website is still under construction, but should be up within the next few months. I guess that’s all for now. (I think it’s enough.;) I’m off to exercise. The rest of my day will be spent on the next book. Later gators. :)

Just added: I had the chance to read Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost and let me tell you, it blew me AWAY!!! Jeaniene has written the first perfect urban fantasy/romance hybrid. If you’d like a chance to get a sneak peek, then follow the above link. You will NOT be sorry. But FWI, Bones is MINE!!! :P

What Just Makes That Little Old Ant…

Today is my aunt’s 86th birthday. Happy Birthday, Aunt V! There was always something amazingly special about my Aunt V. When I was a kid, I used to go to her house and stare in wonder at her counters and table-tops because they would always be covered in the most delectable desserts. This woman could bake like no one’s business. She made the most amazing eight inch high cheesecakes and her pies were ribbon worthy. She never measured anything. She just knew the right amount of ingredients to add. As you might imagine, her house smelled delicious. It is truly one of my fondest memories. May you have many, many more years ahead of you.

Torchwood

Did anyone catch the premiere of Torchwood on BBC America? I just got done watching it (I’d taped it.) and really liked it. It was far different than what I’d expected. I guess I thought it would be lighter and funnier. I’m glad I was wrong. The darker edge makes the show much more enjoyable. The characters sucked me in immediately and made me care. The story-line made me wonder where they’re going to take this show. Can’t wait to find out. :) The show is no Jekyll, but it’s good. Speaking of which, did you all see the end of that series? OMG!!! I couldn’t believe it. I did NOT see that one coming. :-O

If you watched Torchwood (or Jekyll), what did you think?

Hot as Blazes

I know summer is officially over, but someone hasn’t bothered to tell the heat. It’s hot as blazes here. :( I’ve been carrying around a mini-fan with me while we go look at model homes. (For decorating ideas.) Ugh! Enough already!

We probably won’t head to the movies, since we’re both zonked from the heat. We might walk down to Barnes and Noble later to look at interior design books. (Yes, I currently have a bookstore within walking distance of my house. I’ll miss that when we move.) I’m sure once the sun sets the temperature will go down to oh, at least 99! :/

I like warm weather, but extreme heat makes me cranky. And I already have enough people things to be cranky about right now. (wg)

We’ve Done It!

There’s a lot happening today. Some of which I can discuss and some things that have to stay quiet for a while. (Not trying to tease, just stating a fact.) We went to sign the papers for our house. This doesn’t mean we officially have it, but we are one step closer to being home owners. YAY! Next week we have to go to the design center and pick out flooring/countertops/etc. It should actually be pretty cool, although I am somewhat intimidated because I’m not the greatest at combining colors. Thank goodness dh will be there.

The last pieces of the Tor book fell into place and so today I’m going to chart everything out again. I will officially start FAST DRAFT on Monday. We’ll see how much I can get done in a month and change. I’m not expecting the whole book to be down on paper, but hopefully it’ll be close. Come on 300 pages. :)

No big plans this weekend. We’re going to go look at model homes to get decorating ideas. Yes, I know it’s exciting. *ggg* Don’t know of any movies coming out. Will have to check just in case. Anyone out there have any news? I’m desperate here. ;) *g*

Too Busy to Stop

Sorry, don’t have time for much more than what you see here. It’s been a very busy day. Tomorrow we’re off to sign the papers for our new home. Please keep your fingers crossed for us that they accept our offer. :)

Inspiration in the most unlikely places

I got my hair done by a couple of hair gods today. One hair god in particular, we’ll call him Damian (because that’s his name), let me bounce ideas off him for my second Tor book. Anyway, he threw out an idea that I actually think might take care of a problem that I was having with the book. I’d go into more detail, but I don’t want to spoil the plot. ;) So I’d like to give a shout out to D. Thanks for your help. You will get a signed copy once I get my greedy little hands on them. :)

Other than that, not much happening. Still waiting for news on the house and other stuff. Exciting I know. *g*

Interesting Post About Organizations

I found this post interesting, considering everything that went down at RWA recently. Do you agree with the author’s stance? Disagree? If so, why?

On a completely separate note, I couldn’t resist this. According to Amazon, it’s on its way to my house as we speak. YAY!
