One Chapter Down–Lots to Go

I’m finishing up the first chapter on my new book. It started out rough. Okay, it sucked eggs. But, I think I have it fixed now. I have three more things to add and then it’s onto chapter two. Slow and steady wins the race or so my dh says.

I just got back from my haircut check. The guy who does my hair has a complimentary service that he offers. He checks the cut in between the regular cuts to make sure that it’s laying properly. If it’s not, he snips it until it is. Pretty cool, eh? :) I even got to see D while I was there. It was a win-win day.

Still no news on the house. We’re currently waiting for the last piece of info to arrive, then we can turn everything in. My guess is we’ll find out if we have it by the end of next week.

On a super cool note, look what I found. Woo Hoo!!!

Well I’m off to grab some lunch and then get to work. I found a great book on my shelves the other day. (Imagine, snort!)It’s called THE ELEMENTS OF FICTION WRITING: SETTING by Jack Bickham. If you are a writer and haven’t picked it up, then rush out and get it. I learned a lot just by reading the first five pages. On a different note, has anyone picked up and read the new L.L. Foster book called Servant? I want to buy it, but I’d like to hear a few reviews first.

  1. Wow, that IS super-cool!! How can we wait till March ‘08? Well, I guess that’s actually not that far off. OK, commence waiting and the twiddling of thumbs. :)

  2. Squee! I can pre-order!

Congrats on fixing your chapter. And you’re having a good hair day, too. You are on a roll!

  3. Catherine, Yeah, baby. :) I was thinking the same thing, then I realized it’s October already. Yikes!!! Must right faster, since March 1st is my first deadline. :-O

  4. Charli, :) Thanks! It makes a big difference having that first chapter start ‘right’. ;)

  5. Do you have any excerpts of the new one posted anywhere, Jordan?

  6. Yeah! Guess what I’m going to pre-order???

Yeah I was looking at Lori’s book too, but for some reason am reluctant to buy…I need a few more reader reviews too to make my decision.

  7. I finished reading Lori Foster’s, Servant. I thought the story was great. Her style of writing from her romance was carried into this one but in a darker way.

  8. Bernard, I don’t have that excerpt posted yet. I was trying to wait until I had some artwork to do along with it. I’ll see what I can do about getting it up there by this weekend. :)

  9. Vivi, Thank you. :) For some reason, I’m reluctant to buy it too. I’m not sure why. It may have to do with the excerpt that I read. Hmm…

  10. Sandy, Thank you very much!!! Would you mind giving a more detailed review here? Please. (wg)

  11. A young lady, Gaby, is given a quest to find and destroy evil. She can see people as they really are. When she’s called upon to seek and destroy evil, she is almost overcome with pain until she find and destroys the evil, but at the same time she becomes stronger and faster than the average human.

Because of what she does, she is a loner. No one would believe her, or they’d lock her up for the rest of her life.

Gaby runs into a police officer but manages to escape him long enough to kill a monster of a man, but not for long. The officer catches up with her. He is intrigued but also supsicious.

The officer meets with Gaby’s landlord to pry information out of him. The landlord is very protect of Gaby, but he knows next to nothing about his tenant.

Every turn Gaby makes, she is confronted with this police officer. Even though she ’sees’ him as a good person, he’s a threat to her.

She senses someone hunting her and soon the threat comes to the police officer. Gaby feels she needs to protect him, and he feels he needs to protect her and find out her secret that she hiding from him.

Gaby is street smart, tough girl, but so innocent in many ways.

If you’re a fan of Lori’s books, you won’t be disappointed in Servant.

  12. Thank you very much, Sandy. :)
