Okay, I’ve reached the point in the packing program where I’m ready to start tossing EVERYTHING into boxes. Bubble wrap? What’s that? Into the box you go. If it gets broken, who cares? Ugh! We worked on the kitchen today and didn’t stop until well into the evening. Is it finished? NO!!! We still have to pack the silverware, spices, and the crap under the sink. I can’t even stand to look at it anymore. Is it wrong of me to want to leave it all?
The only thing that has kept me sane is the fact that I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to explore in 2008. Keep in mind I’m not sure exactly how I’ll go about accomplishing some of these things, but I’ll figure it out. I’d like to explore graphic novel writing. I’m really enjoying the hell out of reading all these graphic novels and it’s making me want to try my hand at writing one. Of course, I’d have to find someone talented enough to do the drawing. I’m not sure my stick figures would convey the ‘right’ kind of emotion. *ggg*
I’d also like to explore the world of dark young adult fantasy. I don’t have the story yet. I thought I did, but it turned out that the character was older than I realized. Back to the drawing board on that one.
The final thing I’d like to explore is a thriller. Something that’s really action heavy, but taut. Again, an education would be needed. I currently only have pieces of the puzzle. But these are the things that I’m excited about and look forward to exploring in 08.
Is there anything that you’ve wanted to explore? If so, what? If there is but you’ve decided not to, then tell us why?
I’m going to lose internet access as of tomorrow night. Hopefully I’ll be back up and running by Saturday. Fingers and toes crossed. Until then, give the above questions some serious thought. ![]()

Fling it into boxes and run. *g* You’ll make it, you’re almost there!
I have many different things to explore in 08. I have an insane passion for Harlequin Presents, but I’m not sure I could write a whole 50K and keep the humor within acceptable limits. I want to try, though. I also am dying to write more action/adventure SF/paranormal romances.
by Charli December 5th, 2007 at 9:23 amHugh Jackman, but he’s married.
I’ll have to come back for a serious answer.
If I had the money, I’d hire one of those companies that come in and pack for me.
by Bailey Stewart December 5th, 2007 at 2:16 pmI’m going back to my first love in 08–screenwriting. I’m also getting into dark YA. I’m putting together a proposal now…I’m loving it, it’s DARK maybe too dark, but I’m going with it. Might end up teen horror…
by Vivi Anna December 5th, 2007 at 2:49 pmI should finish some of the projects I’m working on ere I start to explore new dimensions. So I have mostly historical fiction these days, plus some Sword and Sorcery that’s busy trying to develop into an epic Fantasy series. Ugh.
by Gabriele December 5th, 2007 at 3:47 pmSometime in the future, I’d like to play with someting paranormal in historical times (why not werewolves in Rome?), and steampunk.
Fingers and toes are crossed for you!!
Good luck with the planning, too. I’ve been thinking and planning for almost a year now. Sometime I will get off my ass and write something I’ve thought about…just not sure what yet. LOL
by Sasha December 5th, 2007 at 3:58 pmI once wanted to do a historical epic along the lines of John Jakes, but found myself so obsessed by the research that I couldn’t do it. I think I’d really like to do a historical romance sometime, but not that big and probably not that far back. I’d also like to do a horror story sometime.
by Bailey Stewart December 5th, 2007 at 7:05 pmYou’re the adventurous sort, aintcha?
Got one plotted and sitting on my desktop, so it glares at me when I’m working on other things. I’ve no idea what it is, lol…has elements of urban fantasy, romance, adventure, alternate reality. But I REALLY love the idea, and will write it. Someday. Soon. Really. *snort!*
by raine December 6th, 2007 at 12:34 pmI’ve completed a YA novel, Erotic novella, and a Paranormal Adventure this year. I’m 30,000 words into a wild one now I haven’t really categorized yet. I think I’ll try a horror novel next. If I don’t sell something soon, my self-publishing bill is going to be humongous.
by BernardL December 6th, 2007 at 3:10 pmCharli, I took your advice. Everything went into the boxes. The movers come tomorrow, so this is it. :-O
I think you should go for that Presents. You’ve been talking about it forever.
by Jordan December 6th, 2007 at 9:18 pmBailey, We almost hired someone to unpack everything. It would’ve been a dream.
by Jordan December 6th, 2007 at 9:42 pmVivi, I started a dark YA a couple of months ago, but I think it’s starting to sound too adult. We’ll see. Good luck with your proposal…and the screenwriting. My dh has written quite a few of those and almost had one produced by BBC. In the end, they were worried about it being too dark. *ggg*
by Jordan December 6th, 2007 at 9:49 pmGabriele, Sounds like you have a lot to explore.
Good luck doing just that in 08.
by Jordan December 6th, 2007 at 10:00 pmSasha, I keep jotting down all the ideas for later. They’re stewing. *g*
by Jordan December 6th, 2007 at 10:01 pmBailey, A seasoned author once told me there was a word for getting caught up into research it’s called ‘procrastination’.
I think it’s interesting that so many of us want to explore horror in one way or another. Pretty cool.
by Jordan December 6th, 2007 at 10:09 pmRaine, Rarely. LOL!!! I save my adventures for the movies.
But I do get overly ambitious. *ggg* Having the book plotted is a very good thing.
I’ve learned to write first and worry about the category later. Bwhaaa. *g*
by Jordan December 6th, 2007 at 10:26 pmBernard, LOL! You are stacking up quite a bill.
I think that will turn around in 08. You shame me with your productivity. I’ve spent this year editing. In fact, that’s about all I managed to do this year. How sad is that?
by Jordan December 6th, 2007 at 10:28 pmNot sad when you remember you’re editing because you have a contract, and you’ve taken on the most stressful activity in married life: buying a house and moving into it.
by BernardL December 7th, 2007 at 7:38 amBernard, Yes, it’s been a very busy time. No doubt. Buying a home redefines stress. Ugh! The trouble is that I still should’ve produced something completely new this year.(Not just finished up a book.) That’s something that I’m going to have to change next year. I need to get ahead somehow. Even if it’s just a little.
