Managed

I managed to edit a whopping 18 pages of my urban fantasy. I was working in a coffee shop, waiting for the cleaners to finish. I thought I was going to be there for at least two more hours and had planned to reach fifty by the time they phoned. No dice. I suppose there’s always tomorrow. Psych! I have 70% of tomorrow booked with deliveries and arrivals. I might be able to squeeze out the afternoon on Thursday. At some point, I’m going to have to break down and Christmas shop. Yeah, I’m that on top of things at this point. Snort. How about you? Are you ready for the holidays?

Wiped Out

Boy, I’m pooped. As you might imagine, we’re still unpacking and will be for a while. The house is really coming together. Our new bed arrived, which is so nice. I’m not knocking the air mattress, but… ;)

I wish I could say that this week was going to be quiet, but it’s not. I literally have something ‘booked’ every day. Tomorrow, I’m meeting the cleaners at the old house so that they can do a move-out clean. They’ve given me a window of time, so I may be twiddling my thumbs or in my case, editing and sweeping the garage out. Might as well be productive if I have to be there for for 5-7 hours. :/

I think the move is catching up with me. I’ve been going at a pretty fair clip, but today I feel like I hit a bit of a wall. Maybe I just need more hours of sleep. I think we’re going to watch a movie, then call it a night. Pathetic, I know.

I’ll leave you all with my Christmas (Book) Wishlist:

1. Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs
2. Madhouse by Rob Thurman
3. Beyond the Dark by Angela Knight et al (yes, I know it’s out now, but I still want it)
4. Embrace the Night by Karen Chance
5. Dawn’s Awakening by Lora Leigh
6. One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
7. Evermore by Lynn Viehl
8. Night Season by Eileen Wilks
9. The Iron Hunt by Majorie M. Liu
10. Shifter by Angela Knight et al.

I’ve shown you mine. Now it’s time for you to show me yours. (wg) What’s your top ten must have(s)of next year?

Moving Day

We’ve been in the house since Wednesday. (Dh wanted to make sure that they weren’t going to take the keys away from us.;) The movers are almost finished loading up the old place and should be on their way soon to our new digs. We’ve gone from living on one floor to having three floors of house. The stairs are kicking our butts. Here’s hoping they make them a little smaller while they’re at it. *ggg*

I’m looking so forward to putting the office together so that I can have my computer back. Is it wrong to miss it so? (wg) Other than the move, I have no new news. Tonight we’re going to get a X-mas tree. We’ve invited friends over tomorrow. I figure all we have to get together is the kitchen and livingroom. Shouldn’t be too bad…says the overly ambitious doofus. ;) Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. I’ll write again once my machine is up and running.

Is it over yet?

Okay, I’ve reached the point in the packing program where I’m ready to start tossing EVERYTHING into boxes. Bubble wrap? What’s that? Into the box you go. If it gets broken, who cares? Ugh! We worked on the kitchen today and didn’t stop until well into the evening. Is it finished? NO!!! We still have to pack the silverware, spices, and the crap under the sink. I can’t even stand to look at it anymore. Is it wrong of me to want to leave it all?

The only thing that has kept me sane is the fact that I’ve been thinking about what I’d like to explore in 2008. Keep in mind I’m not sure exactly how I’ll go about accomplishing some of these things, but I’ll figure it out. I’d like to explore graphic novel writing. I’m really enjoying the hell out of reading all these graphic novels and it’s making me want to try my hand at writing one. Of course, I’d have to find someone talented enough to do the drawing. I’m not sure my stick figures would convey the ‘right’ kind of emotion. *ggg*

I’d also like to explore the world of dark young adult fantasy. I don’t have the story yet. I thought I did, but it turned out that the character was older than I realized. Back to the drawing board on that one.

The final thing I’d like to explore is a thriller. Something that’s really action heavy, but taut. Again, an education would be needed. I currently only have pieces of the puzzle. But these are the things that I’m excited about and look forward to exploring in 08.

Is there anything that you’ve wanted to explore? If so, what? If there is but you’ve decided not to, then tell us why?

I’m going to lose internet access as of tomorrow night. Hopefully I’ll be back up and running by Saturday. Fingers and toes crossed. Until then, give the above questions some serious thought. :)

Signed, Sealed and Delivered

I’d planned to blog about the things that I’ve learned and found helpful in my short career, but to be honest, I’m pooped. We signed the papers for the house today. It only took me ten minutes to get over the sticker shock. *ggg* It was a good thing that dh was there with me or I would have probably ran out screaming. :-O

I haven’t really started X-mas shopping yet. I can’t think about that until the movers come. I do however have lists of the items that I need to buy. That should speed up the process quite a bit. Thank goodness. Tomorrow I plan to pack up the kitchen. Tonight I’m going to pack the remaining items in my bathroom. I’ll leave out whatever I’ll need for the next few days. Luckily, it should only take me a few minutes.

Before anyone asks, no, I have not gotten any writing done…although I have had a few scenes come to me that I’ve jotted down. Two of them were even for the right manuscripts. Yay me! *g* The other one is something that is tugging at the back of my mind. It’s some kind of murder mystery. We’ll see what it eventually morphs into. ;)

A friend sent me a gift certificate for Amazon. (I love those so.:) I would’ve been able to get more items, but now that they’ve taken away their discount it’s not going to be quite as much fun. I’m going to have to start shopping online somewhere else. Anyone have any suggestions? I’m all ears.
