Edits, Websites and Conference Cancellations

As you might imagine, I’m still working on edits. I’m surprised that you all haven’t heard the screams. LOL! 😉 My new website is coming along nicely. I saw some of the book pages today. It’s going to be such a change from the old site.

I decided to cancel my registration for the Romantic Times Conference. In the end, it just proved to be too close to my Novelist Inc. conference. I’m trying to decide now whether to attend my local chapter’s conference. I just don’t know. The savings could be put toward advertising. Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.

  1. I’m still slumming through edits, but hope to be finished this weekend. Good luck with yours.

btw, I picked up OFF LIMITS today on my lunch!

  2. Darn, and I was looking forward to meeting you. 🙁 Oh well, there’s always next year (and next year RWA is in DC- I am sooo there). Thought you might like to know, I picked up Off Limits at my local B&N today. Good luck with the edits.

  3. Vanessa, Good for you on finishing by the weekend. That’s not going to happen here. I think I ‘might’ be finished by Wednesday. Fingers and toes crossed. Oh cool! Thank you! Was it already in the stores?

  4. Ann, I’m sorry. I really wanted to go to RT. I’d even registered for it, but it’s just too much with Novelist Inc. two weeks beforehand. It would’ve cost me 4 grand to do them both. :-O I’m going to try to hit RT next year, wherever it’s held. *g* Have a wonderful time. Thank you for picking up Off Limits. Now I need to go to the bookstore. I didn’t realize it was out so early in the stores. Woo Hoo!

  5. Well, I want to be finished this weekend. lol. I’m having a horrible time with insomia for the past 2 months. :-/

As for you book, not only is it on shelves, but it’s cover side out, not spine out. 😀

  6. Four grand buys a lot of advertising, and reaches more potential markets than a visit. I believe you have chosen wisely. 🙂

  7. I’d like to do one event this year. I don’t know if it’ll happen, but I know I don’t have a prayer of hitting more than one. I think I’m probably going to be sending books and promo items to represent me instead. *g* Ah, edits. The good thing about edits is being DONE with them.

  8. Vanessa, Bummer about the insomnia. 🙁 That’s never fun. Very cool news about the book. I didn’t know. 🙂

  9. Bernard, Yes, it does, but I’m still a bit bummed about having to pull out.

  10. Charli, Yes, it’s very expensive hitting several. I’m still planning to attend NINC, RWA and BEA. (And maybe my local chapter’s conference.) So it’s still a lot.

  11. WAAAAAAAAAAA! I’m going to miss you at RT J. I’m not going to RWA this year. I can’t afford to do both. Next year I think I’m going to hit some smaller conferences. Novelist Inc really looks good, also PASIC has a good one.

All I know is that in 2010 I’m definitely going to the women’s writer’s conference in Italy.

  12. Vivi, Oh NO!!!!!!!!!! I knew that was going to be the case with some of my friends. I know a lot of people are skipping RWA this year. 🙁 I agree with you about the smaller conferences. I think they’re better value if you choose the right ones. I’ll definitely hit NINC next year because it’s going to be in St. Louis. I’ll also hit RT if it’s in Orlando like I’m hearing. Other than that, not sure. I may hit a few fantasy cons. I’ll have to see. I’ll definitely miss seeing you. (((Hugs)))
