Bernard, I picture that scene and the guy burying the little doll in the arena. So sad.

I will see Batman eventually. Thanks for the review. Every time I hear the 'Gladiator' music, I see the sunny field scene with Crowe walking along, his hand brushing over tops of the wheat.

Charli, I tend to hang onto things. I'm still freaked over Gladiator. *ggg* Can't hardly hear the theme music without tearing up. LOL! If you're that sensitive, then you'll probably have issues with the movie. Like Sasha said, not much stays on the screen when it comes to the violence, but it's certainly implied.

Sasha, I thought Maggie did a terrific job and really agree with everything you said. My favorite Heath movies are the two you mentioned, but he was riveting in this role.

I'm scared to see it. *hugs teddy bear* No, seriously, I don't doubt it's brilliant, but I'm way too imaginative and my memory retains visuals far too well and I have learned that if I expose myself to disturbing material/visuals, it will stay with me forever. My husband went to see it and said, "You don't want to see this movie." He knows me very well.

I saw it earlier in the week too, and loved it.

I think people have to go into the movie knowing there is a lot of hype, and yes everyone says it lives up to the hype, which, ironically, sort of hypes it more. But honestly, it was great. Christian Bale rocked as Batman. And I love that in this movie Alfred and Gordon are really given a chance to step up and shine. I also think Maggie Gylenhall does a great job as Rachel. (Better than
Katie Holmes, IMO)

There is violence, but it's not blood and gore. It's mostly explosions and gunshots, and your own imagination that really brings it home. The most questionable (as in should kids
see it) thing shown is two face..and that's all I'll say because I don't want to ruin it for anyone.

The theme of "How far do you go...or how far will a "good" person go?" is something I love. that sort of philisopical thing that gets one thinking.

When I think of Heath Ledger, who I've always loved, in my mind I see him as as he was in 10 Things I Hate About You or A Knight's Tale. I found it hard to watch the Joker and know it's him under that make up, which I think makes a statement in itself for the acting.

A great job by all involved from writing, filming to acting.
