Heather, I cry too. It's a fabulous movie.

Well, perhaps it's more accurate to say that I have a thing for pirates, since the 'other' Captain Jack played a pirate, too. *ggg*

Everyone fell for Daniel Day Lewis after that one.

Gawd, he was just to DIE for in that film...

Bernard, I've loved all the versions of The Taming of the Shrew. Howard Keel was in one called, 'Kiss Me Kate'. Such a terrific movie. The gangsters are hilarious in that film. Shoot, I also forgot to add White Christmas to my list above. It's one of my all time favorite films. Knew I'd forget one.

Yes, The Last of the Mohicans was a terrific flick. Everyone fell for Daniel Day Lewis after that one. *g*

You reminded me of another very well done romance using Shakespearean script to great effect: 'The Taming of the Shrew' with Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor in happier times. At least it had a HEA ending, and all of Shakespeare's superlative lines recited as he wrote them.

The love scene between Daniel Day Lewis and Madeleine Stowe on the ramparts of a fort under siege in 'The Last of the Mohicans' was most memorable. Your Mom's right, 'Secondhand Lions' is one of the funniest and yet touching movies around.

Bernard, I love Sweet Home Alabama. It was a great romantic comedy. I wanted to see Secondhand Lions and never got around to it. My mom said it was great. I tend to avoid 'tragic' love stories. I've seen that version of Romeo and Juliet. We had field trip to the theater to see it in high school. Nudity+mixed company+freshman year of high school=Major embarrassment. *g* Plus, I never forgave the author (wg) for killing them off in the end. ;)

‘Sweet Home Alabama’ is my favorite romantic comedy, and the original ‘Romeo and Juliet’ from 1968 bests any other straight romance I ever saw. Another touching yet hilarious movie was ‘Secondhand Lions’. An adventure movie with a very well done developing love story is ‘The Last of the Mohicans’, which combined great acting, an incredible soundtrack, and exceptional visual effects. I’ve keep meaning to see ‘Stardust’. :)
