Fifty Pages Away From Finishing

In case you’re wondering where I’ve been, it’s editing D-day at my house. I have fifty pages to go. I plan to finish by pain of death by tomorrow. It’ll still be rough. I have a few more items to add and tweak once I’m done, but the overall story will be complete. I’ve hit the editing stage where I have NO IDEA how this book reads. I don’t think it sucks, but I really couldn’t tell you if it was any good. It’s a stage that every writer goes through. I always laugh, when I hear other writers saying that their books rock. I honestly want what they’re smoking. It’s not that I don’t think their books are good, but how in the hell would they know? When you’re this close to a project, there is no sense of perspective. Believe me. 😯 Bangs head on desk.

  1. Push through! You’re kicking ass in edits. *WEG* And yeah, it’s okay if you don’t know, just trust your instincts.

  2. Dawn, I’m going to…AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

  3. How would you know, exactly! Can’t see the forest for the trees. 😯 But you’re about to break out into the clearing! Yay for you.

  4. Charli, Exactly. Trees everywhere. Must find an opening. Grr…

Omigod–you’ve actually heard people SAY this?? 😯
Geez. I might say the IDEA I have for a book rocks, but once I get into it? πŸ™„

  6. Good luck with the editing, Jordan!

  7. You mean we’re not supposed to think our writing rocks? 😯

  8. Raine, Yes, there are. I’ve heard them. πŸ˜†

Yeah, I’ve said that about ideas, but never once I started writing. I figure the people who say that their books rock have about as much perspective as the ones who say their books suck. *ggg*

  9. Karin, Thanks!

  10. Bernard, It would worry me if you did because EVERYTHING can stand to be improved upon. πŸ˜‰

  11. LOLOL. How are you doing now?

  12. Dawn, That loud sound was my head hitting the desk. DONE…until tomorrow when the typing and reading begins.

  13. *HUGE HUGS* Congrats on getting done! Tonight just relax and let your brain rest. *WEG*

  14. Dawn, Thank you! I’m going to. It’s tired.
