Don’t Know Why I Do This To Myself

The read through is moving steadily forward. I’ve read a hundred pages. Should be able to finish the book by Wednesday at the latest if I don’t work over the weekend. Once it’s done, that’s it. Scarlet will be on its way to the printers. YAY!!! Then it’s vampire novella here I come. Looking forward to writing this story. I’m setting it in Paris. It’s my ‘dark’ tribute to a fabulous city. Right now, dh is working on the videos. Visuals are getting closer. 😀

Now onto something that’s been bugging me.

I’m freakishly fanatic about paranormal shows. Ghost Hunter, I’m all over it. A Haunting, used to scare the crap out of me…til it went wonky. Paranormal State, love/hate relationship. The latter I keep watching hoping it will get better, but it never does. Until I watched that show, I never knew how many demons ‘haunted’ people. I mean seriously I would think some of them have something better to do than hang out in Pennsylvania. It’s kind of like the rural folk who claim to be abducted by aliens. You never really see anything happen. There’s never any real proof. It’s so frustrating and yet still I watch. 😳 What’s wrong with me? Don’t answer that. *g*

Are there any shows that fall into that category with you?

  1. I was into “Paranormal State” for a while, but it wore thin. Probably just me, but electrical anomalies & cold spots will only go so far, and someone saying they “felt something” doesn’t move me. I think I stopped watching when they ended a show by turning the victim over to a priest because they were ‘out of their league’, and I started feeling like these were kids playing haunted house… 🙂

Oh, and I was into John Edward’s “Crossing Over” for a bit, but after a while I found myself just trying to figure how he was doing it, lol.
I think I just want more than they’re showing me. 😐

Congrats on nearing the end of the read through. 😉

  2. Raine, That actually describes the show perfectly. *ggg* I just shake my head when they call in the priests because they always do that wrap up in the end that says the people are still experiencing something, but it’s not as bad. Snort. Yeah, that makes it all better.

I used to know a mesmerist (sp)/mentalist and it’s scary what they can do by reading people. They come off as psychic. Pretty much like the show.

Thank you! I’m really looking forward to saying goodbye to the book. 🙂

  3. I’ve hung in with a book/series hoping it would get better. But can’t think of any TV shows I can say that about. (I have hardly watched TV at all for, well, forever.)

  4. Oh, yes, Crossing Over–I used to watch it too, but pretty soon I started to get irritated by the generalities. Sorta like horoscopes, you know?

I learned long ago not to get caught up on tv series–not that I am always successful avoiding such fate, mind, but the cancellation of Firefly and the utter mess that was LOST‘s second season have pretty much ensured I watch nothing on tv these days.

Books now… 🙁 I confess that sometimes it takes well over half a dozen duds to make me quit a series.

  5. Yea, I have a pet peeve. If you want to go ghost hunting, turn on the fracking lights. 🙂 The assumption spirits would only rattle around in the dark is really thin.

  6. Charli, I’ve done that with a book series, too. 😳 I think I kept hoping it would get better. Good for you on the television watching. I’m addicted.

  7. Azteclady, I was the same with Sylvia Brown. Used to watch everything, then she lost me. Horoscopes are a good example.

You know I vowed after Moonlight got cancelled that was it for me. I’ve done much better this year. There are a few shows I’d be disappointed to see go, but they are shows I’ve been watching for years. I’m still bummed about Firefly. It was such a good show. I still watch TV, but I’m far less engaged if you know what I mean.

    Yeah, been there.

  8. Bernard, Yeah, I’m not quite sure who decided that one. Maybe they’ve had more luck in the dark catching things. Who knows?

  9. I can’t think of any shows currently but I have a knack for getting into the ones that then get cancelled… like Firefly and Dresden. I’m obsessive when I get into something so it just bites when they do that.

  10. Signy, Dresden got robbed. It was starting to really get good when they cancelled it. There have been a few shows I think had some kind of political crap happening behind the scenes.
