Pass the Popcorn

I’m just throwing this out there since I’ve been out of the country. Has anyone seen Underworld: Rise of the Lycans or Mall Cop or Benjamin Buttons or Inkheart or Slumdog Millionaire? I need to hear some opinions. I want the good, the bad, and the ugly. 😀

  1. Carrie Vaughn blogged about Inkheart (favorably).

I *heard* from more than one person that Slumdog Millionaire was really good.

I don’t care HOW cheesy/bad/eyerolling Underworld is, I want to see it.

And OHHHHHHHHH Taken starts this weekend too. *bounce*

  2. Underworld: Rise of the Lycans = WIN. Might have loved this one the best out of the three.

  3. Husband loved Rise of the Lycans. Can’t speak for any of the others.

  4. Amie, My dh wants to see Slumdog Millionaire pretty bad. I’ve been torn about Underworld. You know I LOVE werewolves and vamps, but I wasn’t sure how this one held up. Taken does look good. Of course, I like Liam, so that helps. 🙂

  5. Wow Jeaniene! That’s saying a lot. Now I’m definitely going to have to check it out.

  6. Charli, I guess that’s three for the lycans. Going to have to get to the theater, even if I go by myself. *g*

  7. I haven’t seen any that you mentioned as the last few times I’ve been to the movies it’s been with my nieces and one of my nephews, and all before Inkheart (which I really want to see) came out.

However, Marcia Colette wrote a pretty good review of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans on the Shapeshifter Romance Blog:

  8. Ugh. Okay, the link I was trying to post didn’t post. So, I’m trying again: Shapeshifter Romance Blog

  9. Karin, Thanks for the link. I’m not sure why it didn’t work the first time, but oh well. 🙂 The review was great. I’ll definitely go see it.

  10. Jane Yolen posted a review of Slumdog – she did not like it.

  11. Darchole, I’d heard the first thirty minutes were intense and hard to watch. I was kind of worried that was the case with this movie. Sigh.

  12. Jordan, the reason the link didn’t work was operator error. I figured it out just was as I was actually posting the link the second time around. lol

  13. Just saw Mall Cop with my daughter. And we loved it. So funny. But I love Kevin James. He’s always so funny and loveable. I mean, HITCH, now that movie was soooo good because of Kevin, in my opinion.

  14. Karin, LOL, no worries. 😉

  15. Vivi, I LOVED HITCH. Thought it was a fabulous movie. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. We just got back from seeing Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and Taken. Both were enjoyable enough. Could’ve been better. I agree with the reviews that say the romance should’ve been made a higher priority in Underworld. Definitely would’ve created more emotional impact.

  16. My kids took me to see Mall Cop. Laughed so much I stopped eating the popcorn before I ended up choking on it. Kevin James character was strong and his story line, but not so much with the other characters.

  17. Sandy, Vivi Anna thought the same thing. I guess I’m going to have to check it out. I do like Kevin James. He’s very funny. I’m currently looking forward to seeing PUSH this weekend. It opens on Friday.
