Looks like I’ll be signing advanced bound copies of CRIMSON at BEA in New York this year on Friday May 29th. If you’re in the city, stop by and say hi. Bound copies aren’t the same as ARC’s. ARC’s have been edited at least once. I’m excited to be signing, even though the final version of CRIMSON is VERY different from the bound copies. Hopefully I can get some business done while I’m there.

As an aside, I think it’s extremely important for published authors to make regular trips (ie once a year) to New York. I never thought it mattered, until I went to the Novelist Inc. conference last year. Face time with your editors and agent really make a HUGE difference in your working relationships. Make the trip if you can.

Books, Books, I’m Drowning In Books

I’m currently sitting at 9.5 BOXES of books. You read that right. I have officially boxed up that many books. I believe I had more than I realized. Gulp. 😯 I’m almost done going through them. I have a few more to get through (ie read), then I’m going to haul them to the library. I did think about something while I was boxing up the books (many of which were brand new thanks to conferences…and me not getting around to reading them). I thought maybe I should share the LOVE. So with that in mind, I am giving away two flat rate boxes of random books. Some are romances, some are urban fantasy, and some are horror. They are randomly placed in the boxes, so if you want to toss your name into the hat for a chance to win now is the time.

Unfortunately, I do have to limit this particularly contest to US residents ONLY. I’m sorry, but the boxes weigh too much to ship internationally.

To give you an idea of who is in these boxes I’ll toss out a few names: Shiloh Walker, Nalini Singh, C.L. Wilson, Colleen Gleason, Alexis Morgan, Kresley Cole, Anna Katherine ARC, Patti O’Shea ARC, Sharie Kohler, Jessica Andersen, Catherine Mulvany, Lori Handeland ARC, Cheri Scotch, Yasmine Galnorn, Lynn Viehl, Majorie Liu, Lara Adrian, Jocelynn Drake, Caitlin Kittredge, etc. There are more, but that’s at least a taste.

I think you get the picture. 😀

I have gathered names for the SCARLET giveaway. There’s still time to toss your name into the hat for that one. The Scarlet contest is open to anyone in the world, so enter away. I’ll draw names on Wednesday for both contests. Good luck!

Finally Surprised Him

I have to admit the last few years it’s been impossible difficult to surprise dh on his birthday. But this year I finally got him. I bought him gifts that he didn’t expect, but has been wanting for a while. I really wanted this birthday to be a great one. He’s been having a tough time at work (like a lot of people) and he really needed cheering up. I made him the cake he wanted (a Victoria Sponge cake with butter cream frosting). It turned out pretty good, but boy is it RICH. So rich you can barely get through one piece. I don’t think we’ll end up finishing it. 😳

Now that I’m done with the Dead World trilogy, I’m going back to work on editing the Blaze. I’m also trying to clean off my shelves (and drawers). This means that a lot of books are going. I’m trying to be ruthless. I know I’ve tried before and failed, but I think this time is different. I’d really like space for ‘my’ published work on the shelves and right now I don’t have any. I’ve already filled three boxes and have started a fourth. My intention is to get several boxes together and make a trip to the library. I figure they could probably use some of these books because they’re new. 🙄 I’m also going through my reference and writing books. I’m taking a close look at them to see which ones truly help and which ones probably won’t. If they aren’t in the help pile, then they go. The garage will come next once I finish this task.

Are you doing any spring cleaning? Information cleansing? Etc.

The contest to win an ARC of SCARLET is still happening. Just let me know you want your name tossed into the hat. Now I’m off to cull more books.

I Feel So Alive

I’m currently playing this SONG. As you might have guessed, I FINALLY finished the copyedits. I have to say that this was one of the tougher ones because so many elements had to come together in this book. I had a lot of threads to wrap up. I THINK I did it. I’m definitely happy with the final product. It’s currently sitting at 95,000 words. A good length for the final book in a trilogy, I think.

Tomorrow is dh’s b-day (it’s also his sister’s b-day), so I have cakes to bake and party hats to buy. If you don’t hear from me, you’ll know where I am.

To celebrate finishing the never-ending edits, I’m giving away TWO ARC’s of Scarlet. All you have to do is toss your name into the comments. Good luck! 😀
