Been Reading

I’m currently reading several books at the same time. (As is my habit.) I picked up ‘The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian’ after Julia Templeton recommended it. I cannot begin to describe the brilliance of this YA book. It’s so clever and endearing that you can’t tell where the facts leave off and the fiction begins. Don’t be scared by the genre. You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy it. Do yourself a favor and pick it up. You WILL NOT be disappointed.

  1. I had no idea you hadn’t read Sherman Alexie yet! He’s hilarious and brilliant. (He writes great columns, too.) Now you need to get the movie Smoke Signals.

  2. Charli, I know. I’m so embarrassed by how far behind I am. I LOVED this book.

I actually saw Smoke Signals when it came out. Great movie. That’s when I was ‘introduced’ to Sherman’s work. He’s an incredible writer. His heart shows in all he does.

  3. I’ve heard the Alexie book is excellent, and I saw it at the library today, so I’ll have to pick it up next time I go.

  4. Karen, Do pick it up. It’s well worth the time spent.
