Dh and I spent the weekend building bookshelves and putting together office cabinets. There is nothing like moving five bookshelves full of books from the first floor to the third one box at a time. I’m sore and bruised. It looks like someone slugged me in the arms. Getting new bookshelves has been a long time coming. We needed them. And bonus, this time they actually match. *g*

We’re trying to get everything arranged for the upcoming visit from the folks. They’re coming over from Scotland and we’re all heading off to Hawaii for a week. If I don’t come back, you all will know where to find me. (wg) So tempting. So very tempting.

I’m still reading slowly through the updated adult urban fantasy. So far so good, but I’m not very far into it. Fingers crossed it still continues to read well.

Picked up my new glasses today. I got dark frames. Going for a studious look. It’s so nice to be able to see again. Novel concept. Now if only my contacts would come in.

The new Ilona Andrews book finally came in. I’ve been waiting patiently for it to arrive. Are you waiting for any books to come out?

Next up for me is the Paperback Writer release, Shadowlight and Charlaine Harris’ Grave Secret.

I just got home and found out that Kensington Brave Editor Kate Duffy had passed away. I have mixed feelings about the news. Kate was the first New York editor to purchase my work. The first New York editor to take a chance on this newbie writer. She loved romance and believed in the books that she bought. No one could ever doubt her passion for the genre. We had our differences over the years, but I always respected her work ethic. The publishing world, and romance especially, has lost one of its greatest champions. It feels like the end of an era. May she rest in peace.

There were two shows that surprised me this year. I’ve been watching Eureka since it premiered, along with Warehouse 13. I was getting a little tired of Warehouse 13, but I must say the season finale surprised me. I did NOT see that one coming at all. I LOVE it when a show shocks me. Now I’m wondering if the character is acting with free will or if they’ve been brainwashed. Guess we’ll find out next season. Eureka didn’t shock me per se, but it was definitely an emotional season finale. There were a lot of goodbyes. One I didn’t see coming. I think it’ll change the show’s dynamics.

As for new shows, The Forgotten shows promise and Flash Forward was interesting. The latter had a lot of shades of Lost happening, but I hope as it continues it’ll develop differently. I was looking forward to V, but its future seems to be up in the air if the online reports are true. Cougar Town was interesting. It’s funny. There are a lot of women moments that I can relate to, but I find it vaguely uncomfortable to watch. Not sure why.

Bones will always hold a special place in my heart because I still love the characters. This might be the last season of Supernatural, so I’m watching to close out the show. I don’t like the direction its heading in because I don’t think it’ll end well if they follow through with the battle between Michael and Lucifer (ie Dean and Sam). I’d always hoped that somehow the brothers would win. Don’t see that happening now.

Have you seen any shows that surprised you? Any that disappointed? Do you find any of the new shows interesting?

I’ve finished the fifth round of edits on the UF. I have to read through it one more time, then send it off to critique partners before emailing it to my agent. With any luck it’ll be done by the second week of October, then I can get back to my YA. I have to read through my Special Ops short story one more time, then it’s off to London. YAY!

I finally got a chance to watch NCIS last night. Wow, just WOW! I so HEART Gibbs. I mean I liked him before, but seeing him in the ghillie suit. Swoon. Now that is how a show should premiere. Welcome back NCIS.

I’m off to meet a friend for brunch or in my case breakfast. Haven’t seen her in a while, so it should be a good time.

S. J. Day phoned me yesterday after she got her Romantic Times Magazine to tell me that CRIMSON received a 4.5 Star review. To say I’m thrilled is an UNDERSTATEMENT. I’ve been really worried about this book as you all know. And I know that RT reviewed a rough copy since the changes I made didn’t make it into the ABM’s or the ARC’s. So it makes that review quite special to me.

I’m still typing in changes on the UF. Yes, it’s taking forever. At least I’ve passed the halfway point. Thud!

Today is my anniversary. Seems like yesterday we were walking down the aisle. We’re off to relax and spend the weekend NOT working. You have no idea how hard that is for us. We may even catch a movie. I’d like to see Jennifer’s Body. Hope it’s amusing. Has anyone seen it? It’s also Talk Like A Pirate Day. So along with whispering sweet nothings into each others ears, you might hear a few Yars and Mateys coming out of our mouths.

Other than that, I’ve managed to finish going through the UF. I’m still typing in the changes and re-arranging chapters. I’m praying it makes sense when I’m done.

I ordered the Mammoth Book of Vampire Romances 2. I thought the book was pretty in the pictures, but it’s so much nicer in person. Truly beautiful. Can’t wait to read the other stories in it.

Off to enjoy my weekend.

I’ve been furiously working away on UF edits. They’ve turned out to be more intensive than I’d anticipated. I’m at the point where I can’t see the forest through the trees.

I received ARC’s for Crimson the other day. Unfortunately, there’s been a teeny tiny mistake made. They’re listed as Young Adult on the back cover. :-O Yeah, can’t wait to see those reviews. Head hits wall repeatedly. I plan to mail them out next week…after I get a marker/sticker strong enough to cover the problem.

The novella for the Mammoth Book of Special Ops Romances is finished. I still need to send it off, but that won’t take but a minute.

I’m looking forward to the return of the Fall television season. They keep shortening my summer favorites like Psych and Eureka. Although I have REALLY enjoyed Being Human on BBC America. I missed the beginning of the final season of Robin Hood. I get a feeling I’m going to have to get them on DVD, if the reviews say they’re worth it. What show are you looking forward to?

Just went to Amazon and saw that Mammoth Bk. of Vamp Romances 2 is available. Wow! Talk about coming out early. What are you waiting for? Looks like I’m going to have to make a trip to the store this weekend.

I’ve just finished typing in all the additions to my Special Ops novella, HEAT OF THE NIGHT. It went from 6500 words (the minimum allowed word count) to 9K+. A good length, I think. I have one more read to do and it’s DONE!!! YAY! I am so looking forward to getting back to my YA. I’ve been missing it.

Bought a couple of books while I was out this past weekend. I picked up Underground by Kat Richardson (quite enjoy this series), Night’s Cold Kiss by Tracey O’Hara, and Skinwalker by Faith Hunter. I’ve been reading Skinwalker. Took me a while to get into the ‘voice’, but now I’m enjoying it. I’m also reading The 4-Hour Work Week: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Tim Ferriss. The latter I picked up because dh thought I’d get a lot out of it. I have to admit I have and I’m only finished with half the book. Basically, it’s a book about how to own your work and not let your work own you. (The ultimate time-management, so you can live the life you want.) I admit that a large part of it is geared to the business drone, but anyone in any career would get a lot out of it. His writing style is entertaining enough to make you forget you’re reading a ‘business’ book. It has a lot of really good information and is definitely worth a read. I’m looking forward to reading the rest over the next two days. At night on the e-book I’m reading Teresa Medeiros’s ‘One Night of Scandal’. So far, it’s utterly enchanting. This is the first book I’ve read by Teresa. If the book continues in this same vein, it will NOT be my last.

I cannot believe that the Mammoth Book of Vampire Romances 2 releases in less than two weeks. Gulp.
