Paris in the Summer

I left Germany on Monday. Had a great time seeing family and friends. It is always hard to say goodbye. Have come to the conclusion I’m going to have to learn how to speak German. It is no longer an optional language. I don’t like being the only person unable to speak and understand a language. I don’t expect to be fluent, but I do want to be a moderate speaker.

I’m now in Paris. It is nice to be out of the desert in the summer. I can honestly say I don’t miss the heat. Paris is still a lovely city, but it does have a different vibe in the summer compared to the winter. I love the temperatures (mid to low seventies), but I could do without the beggars. I’m not inconsiderate, but it is hard to have compassion when you are approached in the same manner repeatedly by asking if you speak English. Yes, they are targeting English speakers only. And no, they are not French. And yes, I say I don’t speak English in Spanish. High school Spanish rocks! Don’t let anyone tell you any different. 😉

Despite being abroad, I have kept up on the publishing world. What a mess?! Glad I don’t have to deal with it at present.

I’m not doing as much thinking as I’d like, but I’m glad to have the time away. Hope you all are having a nice summer. I’ll check in again soon. Au revoir!

On Saturday, I’ll be off to Scotland. Plan to hit the Isle of Skye.

  1. Sounds like you’re having a wonderful time. I’m avoiding publishing news and walking on the beach. Much better for my head. ; )

  2. Charli, We are having a good time. We went to see Oscar Wilde’s grave and then headed to the sewers. Dh said we were having a Goth day. *ggg*

Enjoy the beach. Glad you are back on the coast. 🙂

  3. The French should take a hard line on a tourist deterrent like large numbers of beggars roaming around in Paris. Nice trick with the Spanish. 🙂

  4. Bernard,

Yes, they should. But sadly, from what I could see, they are out numbered. 🙁

Go high school Spanish go! 😉

  5. I love Paris in the spring time,
I love Paris in the fall,
I love Paris, oh, why oh, why do I love Paris?
Because my best friend is there…..
Make sure to eat a crepe for me! I mean, drink some champagne! xoxo
    Bonjour, mon-amie!!!

  6. Terri,

I did both, moon-amie, along with thinking of you often. 🙂 S.W.A.K.

I’ve been out of touch as well until now.
