Great Interview

I read a fantastic interview yesterday on Ted Weinstein’s blog. It’s a discussion between Barry Eisler and Amanda Hocking. I had respect for them before, but I have newfound respect for them now. They both seem to be quite sharp and didn’t go into any of this with their eyes closed. If you’re a writer or a reader, you’ll benefit from reading this INTERVIEW.

If I can sell three more books by the end of tomorrow, I will have officially doubled my sales from last month. WOO HOO! Come on three books. 🙂

Now I’m off to finish the second half of Rose’s Rapture edits. Wish me luck.

  1. That was interesting reading. I think the best scenario is to be both self-pubbed and NY pubbed.

  2. Patrice, I agree. I actually find Amanda’s approach to that extremely well thought out. It’s what I’ve been thinking about for a while now. Build up your numbers/sales, then approach a publisher. You’ll have far more leverage and will quite possibly get a better deal in the long run.

  3. Good luck! And you go!

And yes, smart of her to want a deal that would get real backing. Patrice, I’m with you! I think that is the best of both worlds.

  4. Charli, I have one more sale to make and I’m there. 🙂

I think you have to walk in both worlds.

  5. That’s really good news on your sales. I enjoyed the interview, but the comment where Ms. Hocking said she didn’t care about the money in reference to her advance really gave me a laugh. Gee, Amanda, it’s not a sin to get paid and admit you enjoy it. 🙂

  6. Bernard, I guess somebody who’s already earned nearly two million from their e-sales can say something like that with a straight face. 😉
