Battling Edits

I’ve spent the last two days battling Atlantean’s Quest Book Two: Exodus. I cannot believe how tough these edits are turning out to be. Every page needs something changed/added/deleted, etc. I cannot believe that this used to be my favorite book. It’s amazing what years and distance can do to a manuscript. Sigh. I have about a hundred pages to go, which given what’s come before them seems daunting to say the least. 🙁 I so want this book to kick-ass…like I remember it doing. I’m not sure there are enough red ink pens in existence to get the job done. Wish me luck, I’m going back in. Breaks out the machete. In the meantime, please enjoy the new cover:

  1. The cover’s great, and I think you picked the perfect review note to include on it.

  2. Great cover…flows well in the series.

It’s amazing what you find to improve in old manuscripts. Just shows you’ve come a long way as a writer. 🙂 Good luck!

  3. Bernard, Thanks! I like that the cover blends well (ie brands with) the other cover Frauke created. There’s only one more book officially set in the jungle after that it’s back in civilization. I can’t wait to see how she keeps them together brand wise. It should be interesting.

As for the quote, that’s definitely one of my better ones. She had to cut it a little to get it to fit.

  4. Thanks Patrice.

Yeah, it is. This one has gone from downright amazing to kind of depressing pretty quick. LOL! My writing style has changed a LOT.

  5. Love the cover! Rowr. And you can do it. Rewriting with what you know now and keeping the flavor of the original is a tough job, but you’re a pro.

  6. Charli, Thanks! I’m not sure I’d call myself a pro. I’m more of a slugger. 😉
